Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why ? An inexperienced kid over a proven quality international defender in what is already a very depleted team especially in defence and in what is in reality a huge game ?

I think the only think to be gained at this point is to give some youth experience. We're 6 points behind 4th and we're on a terrible run of form. One of van Gaal's strongest points is dealing with young players and bringing them through. One of the most exciting and best performances of the season came on Thursday night, albeit against a weak side. I would rather we give some of these guys a chance to prove themselves rather than watch us struggle with players that have proven they aren't working under van Gaal at all.

Not too mention how Memphis would probably not track back too help him out, leaving him to get absolutely ripped apart on his debut and be left in a worst state then the right back of FC Midtjylland after Thursday's game.

As is often the case, the quote is deliberately taken out of context. He was asked something about the first team players missing due to injury and replied that if they had stayed as injury-free as he has this season they might be in first place. But that doesn't suit the agenda.

    That would make sense

Why don't people think Memphis tracks back as much as is expected of any player in his position?

    Is there evidence of this?

They'll get there chance too shine in the the last 16 of the EL,when we'll be playing against a side on the same level of FC Midtjylland. No need too worry.

Kinda like every game isn't it?

I always know I hope the opposition striker plays crap but get worried they might score anyway.

We were only expressing our keen interest in bird watching! Point taken though, the place had gotten a little NSFW these last few days.

Schneiderlin poor for the set piece. We always look like we will concede from them.

    This could end up 4-4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,217 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Some team to refuse to defend set pieces in fairness.

  • Regardless how this finishes I'm so very excited about the prospect that is Rashford
Pace, Strength, Positioning and finishing. The perfect cocktail.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,217 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Reminiscent of a young Anthony Martial sure.

I don't like players getting injured, but without injuries, Rashford would be nowhere near playing.
I hope to God we are finished with players getting injured, some of the younger players have been so good so far. Fingers crossed it continues.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

Schneiderlin really made it easy for Welbeck, turned his back on the ball hadn't a clue where it was

    But Rashford though,unbelieveable stuff,

Hopefully the team stay on the front foot in the second half

Rashford's 4 goals have all come in and around the six yard box. We need that sort of striker, always gambling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,638 ✭✭✭✭bangkok

excellent first half, gonna be a massive 2nd half. gonna be under huge pressure. hopefully rashford gets his hat trick early and kills the game

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭Quandary

With that makeshift back line You get the sense that Utd need at least another goal to completely seal a victory in this game.

Varela and Lingard also deserve some love, they link up really well.

His positioning looks great. It's awesome having that sort of poacher striker.

...and as I type, he goes down hurt
