Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We are so slow at transitioning to defence

Valencia at RB never works out well for us, hopefully he proves me wrong today

Blinds corners have been mostly useless.

Can see a City goal coming.

They haven't shown anything. Rooney was in very good form until he got injured when the team started attacking at the turn of the year. It's nice to see the kids there but rooney aint done yet.

Theyre looking quicker, fresher, more incisive and dangerous, and they're scoring more when p front. Before even mentioning they're a decade younger and far less experienced, they've simply looked the better players.

And they're not drifting the ball from flank to flank time and again, in an effort to kill every attack we get.

Not even trying at this point. Valencia at RB gives me nightmares. Completely loses his man.

Thats because half our team is kids. Lingard and Martial were closest to him.

8 of the players on the pitch at the time are over the age of 25. I hate going on about the old days but if that had happened in any other era you would have had senior players piling in to protect the kid.

Im not doubting their quality or if they keep progressing they will be stars for united for years to come but to simply say rooney is gone because they are playing well in a really bad run of results is jumping the gun.

Rashford had come in and done well but he is still not old or experienced enough to be counted in all season thats too much pressure.

For all that we have said about Rooney he still showed he has plenty left to give and I much prefer him as captain ahead of Carrick or smalling or mata.

No u are dead right Keane or nevile or rooney would of been knocking them out but it also just happened that it was the lingard and Martial around him.

    Smalling was my MoTM.

Rashford and Martial immense up front.

Mata and Lingard poor showing again.

Hard fought win but a win nonetheless.

Only saw the second half but United really got away with it. Very disorganised and begging to be punished. We'll lose those three points to a much poorer team to even it out so it's hard to be excited.

Nice to get the win but it masked another poor second half performance. If City had scored, we couldn't have complained. So much surgery needed to that side it is unreal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,017 ✭✭✭Chagan

Lovely result. Frustating to watch us retreat into our shells once we went ahead but City never really looked that threatening either. Hopefully a bit of consistency down the home straight will clinch a top four place.

Guys - anyone know if Rashford's injury looks serious?
Only dampner on a great day! :D:D

    Well what a day!!

Decent performance. On the ropes for the last half hour and a daft sub or two, sat too deep when defending the lead but a great result.

Those three lads up front offer so a get out of jail card for the team. Their pace and interplay gives Utd another dimension.

Valencia was just awful when he came on. Could have easily cost us. Rojo wasn't much better but I would have left him on if that was the choice. At least he's a defender.

Dare I say another game where Schneiderlin was just ok but nothing more. Large part of the game where he wasn't involved.

Special mention for the worst performance of all - the ref. He brought bad reffing to new levels of ****eness today.

Oh and City were so ponderous. Couldn't believe how uninterested they looked.

I thought lingard was ok. He stretched the defence an few times and while he didn't contribute anything statistically he still gave the defence something to think about with his pace.

then you didnt see penalty incident just before half time. should have been 2-0 up.

massive 3 points, it gives us a huge chance

Yes. I'd have Utd as favourites now.

    Smalling is so posh.

Top 4 would be a great parting gift from Van Gaal

There's more of a chance then there was two hours ago but still an incredibly difficult task, watch us go and lose the next two now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,638 ✭✭✭✭bangkok

have to say along with smalling, Carrick was brilliant today as well, martial and rashford excellent

Souness loves Martial. Always gives him a mention when he's on a Utd game.

    A "real" player. :)

he was class today, magic feet, only 20 going to be a superstar

Martial is so exciting, the potential with that lad is endless!

Isn't life so much better when we beat a big rival? We are ****, and we know we are, but for one night we can forget it and enjoy MOTD and revel in the jokeshop that is LFC and MCFC.

Don't we play Everton before that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,872 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Jesus... First look there at a replay of the peno incident. That and his overall performance of the ref should see him sit out a match weekend. Not good enough... And to give a corner ! Defo bottled it.

All the same I thought we took on our first half performance vs Liverpool into this game with City only looking dangerous on the break. Composure, passing and overall link play much better then most of the season. The inevitable sitting too deep too early towards the end was something we should not be doing, inviting pressure but overall happy without that, 4th defo still all to play for, believe !!!

We play them Sunday 2 weeks. It's on Sky at 4.

    A must needed result today.

Big battle on for 4th, Southampton are playing well behind us and West Ham. I make it a 4 way race for 4th.
Liverpool have the Europa league to drain them.

Ideal end to the season - United get 4th, City get Europa league.
