Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UKIP are good media fodder though.

Lads here seem to have little or no interest in forming a government. The complete lack of urgency says a lot.

What exactly is going on over there? Will there be another election?

Well, this is just pantomime, they don't seem to be acting quickly. FF and FG are just dancing around each other with no interest in getting together because they know that once they do that, this is more than likely their last chance to be in power for a while, as they will both be incumbents when the next election is called. In elections here, incumbent governments don't tend to do well. Berties FF aside that is.

There is also the small matter of FG and Labour being so hell bent on putting the water charges through, they have little incentive to rush setting up a government seeing as the current River Basin Management Scheme* has to be withdrawn by close of business today. If it isn't, it makies harder for anyone to roll back on water charges in the future. So once this isn't done, Noonan and Alan Kelly et al can deliver on their promises to DOB and the Vulture Funds for whatever reasons .

Incidentally Alan Kellys brother is in charge of Teneo, a company which advises on privatising water services. What a coincidence.

*What you say? This is the scheme under which water charges were introduced by FG/Lab. They blamed this on the European Commission despitesaying that they did not direct them to do so.
