Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So stop keeping records! Let time go on passing. Enjoy music etc . Small pleasures. I did not say that time heals wounds. No way, but we get used to coping with being wounded. No one goes through life scar-less. As nothing anyone says is any use? I hear you and we are just trying to ... to be here for you.

PS many here myself included care very deeply for those who suffer as we do or have. and we understand what you are going through. More than that no one can do but you, as it is for all of us. Blessings and peace

How do people pass the day when they are on their own and have no one to talk to?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,583 ✭✭✭BohsCeltic

How do people pass the day when they are on their own and have no one to talk to?

I am not sure if i can answer that really because i have many people to talk to, i don't mean that in a disrespectful way either. I just have so much close family and friends.

I spent the last few hours watching my football team win 8 league titles in a row which made me feel really really good.

If i am alone i will just watch some funny videos on youtube. I used to spend much time talking to my GF but it was a long distant relationship so made it really hard for me.

I have my phone on airplane mode now so she can't call because it will just put me down.
I have a stew cooking now and i'm going to bring the dogs for a walk after that. My Dog's are better than a Doctor for sure.

If you ever need a chat feel free to PM me, I'm a good listener.

I'm just in the office, twelve hours ahead but it's kind of safe here.. You?

    How's everyone doing this evening?

Not too bad. Had my stew, went out with the Dogs then had loads of fruit and also cut the front garden.
Tomorrow i'll cut the back and also my friend is calling up to me tomorrow and we'll take the dogs for a walk. He's on the same med's as me but he only told me recently.

The most thing i am worried about is my income protection through work, i've done everything and HR just said to me that i will get a letter in the post and obviously i am thinking the insurance company are going to dismiss the claim or prolong it.

I really need it as the financial strain does not help.

If i got it i know for sure it would make 100 times better. A nice holiday travelling SE Asia in the sun and sorting out other thing too.
    I can only hope.

Is anyone here taking or has anyone taken venlafaxine?

We are starting to discuss lowering my dose and all the googling I do seems to imply that it will be an awful process!!

I'm doing it with advice of my gp and slowly but just wondering if anyone had any experience of it?

Was on it before but it sent blood pressure too high. Can't remember it being too difficult to come off if done slowly

Just on this, Income Protection is most likely thru Irish Life.
Their process is to have a phone interview with you when the claim is received, request a report from your GP and any treating specialist and then arrange a review with their own appointed specialist.
They are very rare in approving claims for depression/anxiety.
One of their caveats is that the illness must be disabling, and quite often the specialist recommendation will be that part-time work will be of benefit.
Regardless of whether such a schedule is available to the claimant, it does however preclude them from paying out as you are not considered disabled.

They are a nightmare to deal with.

I've been on it for about 8 months and it's really got me to a great place, but I'm a bit (ironically enough) anxious about coming down off it now.

Not just the potential side effects of reducing my dose but also I'm not 100% confident all the leaps and bounds I've made recently aren't just because of it!

Yes it is through Irish life. Have already done the interview with the nurse, filled in paperwork and seen a psychiatrist.
I have read however that their biggest payouts are to people with Mental health issues.

Mental health is a disability and i have been addressing it so i'm probably going to have to fight my case which will just add more stress to me.
Life is not simple and some people just make it harder.

Me too. This money would definitely up my mood and get me back into work. I told the specialist this too and that i do want to go back to work but i need my car and being on IB i cannot afford to run the car. Frustrating.
