Considering AirBnB - how would I declare tax?

I'm moving into a place with a spare bedroom.
If the landlord approves me to use it (only while I'm in the house, so no Air B&B travelers would be alone in the house)

How would I go about declaring the income, which would presumably be less than €2000 a year?!

If you earn it in 2016 you would declare it in 2017 and pay tax on it in November 2017.

Would you not just let the room full time? You can then avail of the rent a room scheme and you would pay no tax on up to 12,000 in rental income.
