    In your average system they work perfectly and will activate once it's path is crossed. If you think about it, unless the beam is on the exit route, then, more than likely, by the time the exit timer has finished the beam is ready to transmit again.

    Its a battery save feature. If you are in a room for a couple of hours that PiR would be transmitting constantly.
