Where would I pick up a trial jar for a hydrometer. In Dublin city centre. I'm currently using a tall perronni glass which wasted nearly a pint for each reading 😢

Waste? I make sure the jar and hydrometer are clean and sterilised before use and pour the beer back in again (gently) afterwards. I'm not wasting even the 150ml in the jar!

I just put the hydrometer straight into the wort, not as accurate but more than good enough for homebrewing.

I got one for my fishkeeping and, in a side-by-side comparison with the ones retailing for €70 in petshops, the only difference was the label on the sticker!

This one cost a bit more but has SG markings on it too. Both useful.

I have the one I have linked and it has SG markings on the scales.

YMMV though and since it's not mentioned on the one I posted and there's only a few euros in it, it might be worth opting for the one that lists it as a feature. Chinese manufacturing being what it is, it'd be hard to rely on the ATC one I got still being the same 6 months later!

I do this too, left in from the very start. I take photos of it and zoom in to get readings if its difficult to see.
