Election - Poll

I can't recall were I saw it (possibly RTE), but a poll suggested not much change if we went back tomorrow, for example. The only significant changes I noticed were Labour down 3, SD up 2 and independents down. Saying that, if another election were called tomorrow, a lot could happen in the intervening weeks.

SD could 9and probably will) definitely run more candidates since they'll have funding for the next election.

Personally, I wouldn't change my vote.

I think people have seen now that voting independent just leads to instability , id like to think if the SD could run more candidates next time out they would definitely get more seats, with people who voted independent because they were sick of the same old stale civil war parties , transferring their vote SD if more candidates were available.

Chances are my constituency would be one of the few to not experience the SDs expand their operations.

And got 127 votes. It doesn't say much for the quality of the sex.

Maybe he was trying the Drumpf strategy of saying outrageous stuff for attention. :pac:

Maybe he didn't restrict himself to partners living in his constituency?

Anyway. I'd say another election is more than likely at this stage, and FG will dump Enda over the side as soon as the Dail is dissolved. Basically, anybody else would win them a few extra urban seats.

    Scrap the cap!

Spin doctor John Drennan quits Renua after election failure
The former Sunday Independent political editor joined Renua in May of last year, saying the new political party had “the potential to bring real change to Irish politics”.

Drennan worked closely with party leader Lucinda Creighton throughout his time with the party, but it failed to capture the support of the public it had hoped for.

Renua lost all three of its TDs in the general election with Creighton the most high-profile casualty in Dublin Bay South.

It failed to win Dáil seats anywhere else despite fielding 26 candidates. It’s understood that Drennan handed in his notice on election day.

Can't say I blame him, the party is finished,
It was ill thought out, the people involved in it were not people that most of the population wanted and one of their head people was seriously hated.

Having Eddie Hobbs involved also made it a laughing stock for anyone that remember the type of stuff he came out with during the boom..cough

Renua Ireland is going to change its name

    http://www.thejournal.ie/renua-name-chamge-2795102-May2016/
RENUA’S REACTION TO the party’s disastrous electoral performance will see it change its name to a variant of Renua – The Liberal Democratic Party.

    Liberal?
I certainly wouldn't refer to Lucinda as Liberal, can they be done for false advertising on this?
The party only came about because Lucinda was against allowing abortion in certain instances, if we can call that Liberal then perhaps we should call UKIP's views on migrants Liberal.

Maybe it's "liberal" in the classical sense of the word. ;)

Probably a "Liberal Democratic Party" in the same sense as Vladimir Zhirinovsky's Liberal Democratic Party of Russia:

Sounds like they're trying to steal some of the good reputation of the SocDems.

Yeah I think they mean Liberal like Trevelyan was Liberal.

It's a name that should mean pro business, socially liberal but in general it means smaller parties fighting for scraps outside socialist/SD/labour or cd/conservative block. Alde basically take anything they can get and they still didn't get anywhere. It's rarely different on national level.

The People's Liberal Democratic Party would have been better.

Given the number of members, "The Person's Liberal Democratic Party" might be the best.

Another update about Lucinda (former Renue fame).

It seems she's a fan of Startrek and she's started a consulting firm

    http://www.broadsheet.ie/2016/07/25/live-long-and-prosper/

    http://vulcanconsulting.eu/
Our CEO, Lucinda Creighton, is a former Member of Parliament and Minister for European Affairs in the Irish Government, with extensive knowledge of the regulatory and bureaucratic systems across Europe.

We provide unique insights, analysis and advice for companies who deal with the complex and ever changing regulatory environment in the European Union. Vulcan is headquartered in the heart of Dublin, and has a significant presence in Brussels.

The mission of Vulcan Consulting is to provide expert strategic advice which simplifies government and EU bureaucracy for companies, while optimising the level of engagement with systems of law making and regulation.

She couldn't manage a part, would you trust her as a consultant?

Perhaps Lolek Ltd will employ her?

    Lobbyist for hire, it seems.
A lot of the ex-eurocrats seem to cash in on the connections they have made. Lucinda is only small fry though, so she must be relatively cheap.

I see Barroso now works for Goldman Sachs...no wonder the banksters and big businesses never lose. Need another bailout? No problemo.
