Usually you have to have purchased something big at the store, when they take your contact number, then they send you a text to show at these sales

True. Unfortunately when the standard staff discount is 30% you know there has to be a good chunk off for the average punter to be getting a half decent deal.

Not a bargain, but nevertheless thanks for posting.

Its a text offer only, you have to sign up to get them. Just say you got a text they don't really bother checking.

Is there a code or something though? Looking for lots of paint which I want to reserve and collect but don't wanna pay full price.

I assume it means things like lawnmowers and such. I'm sure you'll be safe with a hose.

As long as your chosen items are not excluded from the sale, then you're fine.

Woodies were in a heap for quite a while. There is a new boss now, the Declan fella who ran Dixons Ireland. He had a big profile here on boards as he personally looked after the talkto Dixons/Currys thread. Then they decided he was not needed.

I know somebody inside Woodies, and they tell me he is really making his mark. I wish him all the best and expect more and more of these offers.

I may go down and have a look myself later.

That explains a lot been in 3 woodies lately and they have really blown out the cobwebs the shelves used to be full of ancient ****e in faded packaging, the aisle baskets full of cheap chinese poundshop tat.

I tried that about 8 months ago. Never heard anything back. Went to a local hardware shop instead.

Sorry off topic, but for a good price on sheds have a look at http://www.ballyfreegardensheds.ie or https://www.gardensheds4less.ie
No experience with the second but just got a shed from the ballyfree place and can't fault them. Seems very competitive price as well, for the type of shed, you can get cheaper but quality wouldn't be as good.

I would expect one in or around the June Bank Holiday - it may be fairly soon but there usually is. If not, August BH maybe.

LAST TIME I availed of this offer, spent €45 received €1.20 discount as the other items were already discounted. To add insult to injury a few days after the 'sale' one of the items was reduced from €15 to €9.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭Murt10

    Thanks OP.

Just bought a BBQ. The girl put it through @ full price. I had to ask for the 20% reduction

Where is the insult there? It says not valid on current discounts. I bought two large tubs of paint with 30% off. I didnt expect to get ANOTHER 20% on top of that.

You have to be realistic. As for an item reduced a few days later, so what? Stuff goes up and down all the time.

Thanks OP, and JoeFuss for the text. Had to show the text before I got the discount but it only worked on some of the items I bought because a lot of them were on 30% to 50% off already without being advertised on the shelves where I picked them up!!! The new CEO still has a bit to do!

I did alright out of it as well. I went into the Tallaght branch and stocked up on paint. Loads were on promotion already so no extra discount, but I did alright out of it.

Was pleasantly surprised at the Tallaght branch, they have really upped the ante their.

The main issue with Woodies is the lack of staff. It's always hard to find staff and when you do they are usually already with another customer.

Shame this discount didn't come off already reduced items as I recall the last sale they had had 20% off everything including discounted items. At least then you can actually get a proper bargain as oppose to what the item should cost without the ridiculous mark up.
