Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all-

I'm a total rube, with only a passing interest in the sport- my OH is really into it. It's his birthday in a few weeks and I want to get him a new BJJ Gi. I have literally no idea where to start. Any advice??!

    TIA!

What's the CHEAPEST place to get a gi??

Mullen's is a good shop (bought my boxing gloves there) but they don;t do BJJ stuff and you won;t find a gi in there (at least when I last went looking). One-on-One on Mary Street should have whet you're looking for.

It would be worth knowing what gi size your OH is. Sizes are generally A1, A2, A3 and A4 (you can get A0 and A5, A6 too but they would be harder to find). You will find conversion charts which correspond to height and weight etc. but it would be handiest to just have a sneaky check of his current gi to be sure. If you see one of the above sizes on the gi that's the size you should be on the lookout for.

Aside from the two shops above there are a lot of places online where you can order one but you would need to know the size beforehand.

Check out wolfhound fightwear online, great quality and Irish owned, I'm sure they'll help u with the size, to give u an idea I'm 5 foot 10 and 82 kg and my size is A2.

I've always bought a gi directly from the club I've been in. Could you get a message to your husbands instructor? (Maybe via Facebook page?)

I am one of the co-owners of Wolfhound, if you want to drop me a mail I can help you out :-)
