Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dog microchipped but not registered and no certificate

    We took on a new dog a month ago after it's owner passed away and during a visit to the vet for a check up we inquired about changing the information on his chip over to our details and the vet told us we could do this ourselves online.

    I entered his microchip number into the fido database and it appears that it was never registered and that I also need a certificate witha PIN to be sent off by a registrar, such as the vet, confirming that he has been chipped.

    I've checked all the papers and leaflets that were passed on with him but we only have the microchip number itself and no cert. I'm just wondering can the vet still act as registrar without the cert or will he have to be chipped again? Thanks for any advice you can give.

    Yes, the law is now changing and just having a dog microchipped isn't enough, you have to physically have the certificate as well. Previously you could just get a dog chipped, without any checks, now the vet has to sign a form confirming your identity and address, if you go back to the vet, they can scan to get the number and then sign the form (although if you are not known to them, they will ask for I.D.) The dog doesn't need another chip inserted.
