Because everyone expects Arsenal to win this, I foresee a good utd performance, so I'll go for Arsenal bottling it again and a 3-1 home win with a late breakaway goal sealing the win for utd.

In general. Specifically, he books somebody for deliberately stopping an attack just inside the opposition half. But then it's only a free when somebody is careering into the box and gets taken down.

But it happens in so many instances, for and against all teams, hence the consistency issue.

In football the ref doesn't have to balance out the bookings. Each one is on its own individual merit.
