Hello folks, can anyone recommend someone who services or does mechanical repairs on older Porsche's in the Dublin/Wicklow area? I'd like my 928 to be given the once over. Any suggestions happily received

Cheers okistag, have you used them before for Porsche repairs? I knew they did Mercs but haven't heard anything before about Porsches.

Will get some up once she's cleaned up. A few small jobs to be done yet!

    That will do ;)

    What year, auto?

I've an '87 S4 Auto in need of some tlc. waiting for the weather to get warmer and the engine will be pulled for head gasket and up refresh, fuel lines and a few other bits.

The S4 is nice but I didnt want to pay the full tax. I might look into one next year! Its a 1983 auto. The 3-speed isnt the greatest but does the job!

Where are you getting the work done on yours?

Yeah the under 30 year tax rate is crazy

Will be doing the work myself.

You should sign up to the UK 928.org.uk owners mail list here if you haven't already: http://lists.928.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/928uk

    It's a great resource.

thanks, I've just signed up. I find Rennlist is good too, plenty of info there.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    And Rennlist

US centered, but remember most 928s were exported to the US. Incredible resource.

I miss my '86 S2. Couldn't afford the motor tax on it anymore during the recession so had to let it go :(

thanks Unkel, I read the thread on here from when you bought your 928.

Do you have any recommendations for a decent mechanic? You can PM me if you want to.

Robert Furley near Kells (Co. Meath)

Not sure if he is still in business, but you can give it a try

    Linky

thanks, I've heard good reports about Robert Furley, but he's a bit far from me in Wicklow. It's about 1.5 hours each way to Kells!

Does anyone have experience of having their 928 looked after in either OPH or Barry Whelan? They're the only other Porsche specialists I know of in the area, just thought they were more 911 focused.

Did you buy the fuel lines yet God Father? They're on top of my list after reading a few threads on Rennlist (can't post link, not enough posts).

Looking to see where's the best place to get them, I'll try to fit them myself.

They know Porsche and Merc equally as well.
Terry looks after some very special and rare Porsches and he himself is Porsche owner.
This is one of their own at Mondello and Terry taking a relaxed spin around Mondello track

I got a fuel line kit from Roger at 928sRus in the US.
Came with hose, fuel clamps and one original porsche fuel line.
Will be picking up another which is an official fuel line from Porsche or Rose passion as it is still available and cheap enough.

Though I still fancy some of Greg Brown's from Precision Motorwerks in the US, (Roger sells them). Expensive but top quality, fit and forget job.

I have a corroded main hard fuel line from the tank that needs repairing/replacing also. Looking into going nylon if I swap the full line.
