Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gold plated watch

    Hi Boardsies,

Hope this is the right place for this question. My BF gave me a watch for Christmas 2014. Its a Citizen EcoDrive, Gold plated with a pearl face and some diamonds (obviously not high quality diamonds!) around it. It cost about €450, so not as expensive as a a Tag or Longines or similar, but not cheap either. I love it and wear it everyday, and would like to be able to keep it looking well.

I'm noticing the gold starting to wear in some places - is there anything I can do about this? I know jewellery can be redipped in gold but as this is a watch I'm not too sure how this would work? Has anyone done this previously?

as far as I know it isn't possible to have good plated watches replayed. White gold jewellery can be plated with rhodium which has a white finish and that's what dipping is. So I don't think you'll be able to undo the wear it already has unfortunalty. Perfume is not good for gold plated jewellery so if I don't spray it on my watch wrist when I'm wearing mine. Is most of the discolouration around where the buckle or clasp is? If so thats probably your problem. If it's around the face/bracelet then it's just normal wear I'm afraid

Oh this is sad but not entirely unexpected news.

I'm careful never to spray perfume on it, the wear is around the face so not sure theres much i can do about it. I suppose i'll have to stop wearing it so much to slow the process!

You could try contacting Citzen and see what they said. The area might be removable and they could replace it. Might be worth an email anyway. Nothing to lose.
