Leaves on the lawn, remedy.

Sooo, newish lawn, big tree. Didn't remove the leaves from the lawn last year and now they are a big mess of mulch in large areas of the lawn. Some parts look as if there is no grass left. What is my best bet from here. Would raking up the leaves and putting some grass seed on the affected area help it back to where it…

Would raking up the leaves and putting some grass seed on the affected area help it back to where it was? Is now the right time to be putting down grass seed or should I wait another month or so?
