Win7. Odd sleep/lid close behaviour

    A Dell E4200,running Win7. Was set to sleep on lid close, wake on open. Used to do that fine. Haven't changed anything, now it seems to still sleep OK, but on lid open, shuts itself down to sleep mode again, then I wake it with power button and its normal again.

    Dodgy lid switch perhaps? Any other possibilities?

    Can you see the lid switch? Or is it internal? Sounds like that's the culprit alright.

    I would either play around with the sleep settings a bit, see if it makes a change. Failing that, I'd stick in a spare HDD, do a fresh W7 install and see did that fix it. If it didn't, it's a hardware issue :-)
