In Stillorgan, the two are mutually exclusive.

Try The Orchard on The Hill, best balance

Bit of a stroll along the N11 (or bus it) but Byrne's of Galloping Green is a great spot (no food AFAIK). If you want pub food stay on a 75 or a 46a for the Grange at Deansgrange X.

you could walk down into blackrock(maybe 15 mins)
Galloping green is nice too, Leopardstown Inn also nice but both are about 15 mins away too

As helimachoptor said, your best bet is heading down to Blackrock - just a 15 minute down towards the sea.

Taxi to Blackrock would cost about €6, but there are 7 or 8 Bars to choose from

You said 'not too young' so if I was you I'd go to Gleesons in Booterstown Ave, they do good food and there's a reasonably good atmosphere. Come out of the Stillorgan Park Hotel, turn right and walk towards the city, continue on the N11 past the first major right turn (Mt. Merrion Ave.) and walk to the next set of lights, turn right here (Booterstown Ave.) and walk down the hill, through a set of traffic lights and Gleesons is on the right just past the church (on the left). About 1.5 kms from your hotel.

Anyone tried Kennedys (the new place where Kielys was) yet?

I'd tend to say Blackrock, your choices are great.

The Dark Horse is craft beer and slightly hipster, but the worst of the youth are pulled towards the Wetherspoons (three tun tavern) or Wicked Wolf.

Conways is the more traditional (famously gave away free pints of Guinness the week spoons opened to advertise the fact it was a real pub). And Flash Harry's that just opened is something a little bit different as well.

B:Rock re-inventing itself as an entertainment village is class.

The Mill House, quite a nice bar with atmosphere and not really a young people's pub so much.

Walk past Oatlands College, past the Stillorgan Shopping Centre, turn onto the Kilmacud Road, 100 yards.
