Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gnabry and Asano scored last night in the Olympics. Wenger will say we don't need a new striker or midfielder's for that matter. Plus Welbeck is back in the new year!

The only official word I've heard from the club is an attacker and a defender. No names have been mentioned, so I'm not going to get worked up over us supposedly not being interested in a player that we never said we were interested in.

Anything less than signing a decent attacker and defender would make me view this window as a failure, though.
We're a week away from the start of the campaign and our first game against a Top 4 challenger. I'd class this window as already being a failure.
Followed by the reigning champions 1 week later. Two 6 pointer games to start with.

I actually think the stuttering start last year with West Ham was a fatal blow to us ironically.

The fixture list has been known for months. The weaknesses in the squad have been known for years.

    A shambles.

A week to go and what the **** have we done in this window.

**** all. And we all knew it at the start of the summer.

We still have a much better team than Liverpool anyway.

The frustrating thing for me is that if we're going for Mustafi and Lacazette, what's the delay? I don't see any major reason why we couldn't have signed either 3 weeks ago.

Aulas is very difficult to deal with at Lyon, so that's perhaps understandable. As for Mustafi, if there is competition for him, that would complicate things as well.

I reckon we'll still get the two players, not likely Lacazette and Mustafi.

However with waiting so long, Wenger's taking a risk. If this goes the way of Suarez or something and there isn't a plan B, he can't come back and say 'well we tried' and expect anything other than being booed on and off the pitch at the Emirates.

Wenger has shown he couldn't give two fcuks about what the fans think, he is extremely condescending the past few years. He knows he is in his last year and is selfish enough to ride it out his way.

The problem is when he leaves the board will hire another yes man. Who will just work within the policy of the club.

We lost out big time with Kloop he was the man

Still think everyone will be happy by the time the window closes

I reckon we'll take 6 points out our first 2 games, and the 'pressure' to sign will drop in Arsenes world

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,756 ✭✭✭emergingstar

I think Liverpool will beat us and the stadium will be poisonous

The game tonight on any tv?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

So will Wenger play a largely 2nd string tonight to have the first teamers to play against City on Sunday or will he mix it up a bit more ?

You'd have to assume the team we play on Sunday is a stronger one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Xhaka, Sanchez and Ramsey kept in reserve for City.

Interested to see how Bielik fares out at CB.
    He's been there before.

    He's been there before.

There's an interview with him on arsenal.com saying that he didn't like the idea of playing there when he was first told to, but now he's getting more confidence that he can become a good CB.

He's got a good build for it, I hope he does well.

    Nobody watching the game?

Ox is looking phenomenal, Walcott just makes me angry

Ospina not filling me with confidence that getting rid of Szczesny is a good idea at all. Bielik looks fairly mature for someone his age. Walcott is still being Theo.

Yeah he's not the best at set pieces but Ches was pretty suspect with his decision making too

Is Walcott the most despised player that still plays for the club in at least 20 years?

    I wouldn't say he's despised.
But he is definitely not good enough.

    Despised? Not a chance.

But he does get on my nerves a bit. Quite a bit.

I missed the first ten minutes. What's the story with the peno? Who won it?

Debuchy got an arm pulled back charging into the box. Good save from the keeper from Santi's spot kick.

Debuchy went down after a tug of the arm, bit dramatic, poor peno from Cazorla

    Campbell's goal

    Walcott is ****ing terrible

Amazing Theo's pathetic kick drew a save from the keeper, which then ended up being a goal from the corner. Keeper was probably shocked how slowly Theo's shot came at him :D

Campbells goal all day. Great leap by Elneny though.

I've suddenly got a craving for a bowl of hot Campbell's

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,990 ✭✭✭wawaman

Walcott is a shell of the player he was. Elneny is a really solid centre mid

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 792 ✭✭✭Topbike77

Am I the only one that still has hope for Walcott? If he stays injury free, gets a good run and gets his confidence back I think he could be a big player for us. (I'm probably going to get a lot of abuse for that). Maybe it would be no harm to loan him out for a year to help him get his mojo back.
