Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And that's the difference a striker makes. 1 chance. 1 goal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

Was just gonna say that city look poor up front and then aguero goes and scores

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,238 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

Chamberlain again, beats 3 players lovely and has a great chance to put Ramsey through and overdoes it.

Edit: and thats what having a great striker does. 1 nil City

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

    Aguero puts City ahead.

Dominate, have all the chances and then the opposition score. Yep we're back.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

That was nothing to do with having a great striker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

City don't look all that comfortable playing it out from the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

Course it wasn't, he happened to be there by accident

How was it not? The ball goes into the box, and Aguero is there to knock it into the goal. We've put it into the box on multiple occasions and we've not even come close. That goal is exactly what a striker should be doing

    Focus on the 'great' part.

You're saying that it takes a 'great' striker to make that run??

I disagree. Bog standard stuff. Simply amazing cross from Sterling. Absolutely put it on a plate for him. Practically any striker scores there.

Except Giroud who would be ten yards back thinking of knocking it down for someone coming through from midfield. All I want is a striker who gets into the box and scores. Giroud doesn't do it enough. We've been near 20 years looking for this elusive "fox in the box" :(

Missed chances, dominating the game and then poor defending. Oh Arsenal, how I have missed you

Sorry Quazzie, tis a pointless argument. City played that an orthodox way, winger gets ball, striker goes central, cross comes in. Our great chances have fallen to Ox, Coq and Rambo, none of whom are playing centrally.

If we were putting in. Also like that, so you really think Gieoud would have gone 2 goals in 22 last season?

Giroud would love if we played like that.

The reality is we're starting another season experimenting with players up front and trying to turn them into strikers rather than going out and buying what we need. It's just a shambles yet again.

Not bad overall. Have kept City very quiet.

The only chance we had that I'm disappointed with is the Ox's one. The way he's been playing, I'd expect him to put it away. Rambo should have put his header on target at the very least, but it wasn't a sure thing even if he did. It was a shame that our other chance fell to Coq.

While everyone is looking at a striker

I'm thinking were up **** creek with the CBs we have available

Yeah it's worrying alright. We desperately need a strong commanding centre back. Kos and Gabriel won't cut it as a first choice partnership. Relying on Holding and Chambers to come in too is not good enough, with the money we have.

I hope he does. I think he is red rotten useless but the fact is that we are stuck with him. A few goals or good displays are badly needed, see will he get some form of confidence back

This would be very tasty if it was a competitive match. City throwing in a load of tackles.

    So unlucky Alexis, great effort

Walcott looking much better from the right

He is definitely getting some kind of confidence back, which can only be a good thing.

Theo's getting his confidence back! Great to see.

Coquelin is incredibly limited in the opposition half!

So is Cech, but that doesn't make him any less effective on the outcome of the game.

True but with this formation alongside Elneny he is playing a lot of his football there. Unlike Cech!

Picked the wrong match for that comment....or did Cech also get a great chance in the City box that I missed?

Literally the worst thing that could happen. Wenger won't buy a striker. Can't wait to see the interview after this to confirm.

Can't you just enjoy the game and the performance?

    Welbeck needs replacing anyway
    We still need a striker

On another note - what the hell has Sterling done to his hair :pac::D

This is the kind of attitude that really grates on me. It's like a lot of people here want players to do badly so Wenger is forced to buy.

He has publicly said he wants an attacker and defender. A friendly match won't change that.
