I am an area which may be covered by the Efibre to the home announcement. Is there a map available showing the exact areas covered ?

I phoned Eir and they were not aware of the details.

Wouldn't mind knowing which of the 420 houses from the list in Cobh are being done. Can't imagine mine being one of them seeing as they can't even give the 400 odd houses around me next gen gen broadband, never mind fibre.

    Hi Dulchie,

You can view the most up to date information on the eFibre roll out here http://fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when/ or you can check your line number or address here https://www.eir.ie/eirfibreinfo/map/. I would recommend registering your details on the above link and as soon as the service is available you will be notified.

    Hi MackMack,

The cabinet details that have been commissioned will be available to view here http://fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when/ and if you are connected to these cabinets once they go live you should be able to avail of the service.

    Hi Tony,
    Thank you for your reply.

My nearest cabinet has a blue marker on it and I have been told that the Fiber to the Cabinet service will be available "within a year". I can not get a specific date.

My main interest is the Fiber to the Home scheme, there are 370 houses listed for my Area, Rosslare Co. Wexford,
is there a specific map of the proposed FTTH service available ?

The only mention of FTTH in Cobh is on the main exchange in the town itself. Does this mean that the houses connected directly to the main exchange are first in line or is it planned to follow the blue lines on the map? I presume that Eir know exactly which houses are planned for the first phase? Don't suppose ye'd connect up Rushbrooke Links first seeing as we're the only ones left in the town on first gen broadband. Bit of a waste giving FTTH to the people already on 100meg lines :p

When I go to register my details for notification I'm forced to add a Land line number, even though I don't have a land line in the house!   What do you recommend?

Also, why are you not using Eircodes? Surely these would be able to give you and the customers exact details of whether it is avialable at a particular premises.

Same issue with map, the planned upgrade seems to Stop just short of our house, don't have a landline any more as the broadband was abysmal. Any way of finding out if our area would be included in the upgrade

    Hi amber2,

Have you checked your number here https://www.eir.ie/eirfibreinfo/map/? If you have a broadband only service there should be a standalone broadband number allocated to the line, this usually starts with 888. You should be able to find this on your bill.

    hi Pamela

I don't have Broadband in the area, only midband!  So this is why I don't have a landline. There is a phone line into the house, but it was disconnected 10 years ago.

Yet again bypassed :( 3.5 miles to Limerick City Centre - 1.8 miles from the city boundary - and abandoned by the efibre cabinet rollout and now this too. Absolutely disgraceful!

On checking the old phone number it is showing the line is eir fiber enabled, yet no other neighbour active phone number is showing up with eir fiber, also don't have broadband line, no phone no broadband in the house, line out of use for 4 yrs or so.

I'm just curious, I live in Rathcoole and I am very interested in the FTTH rollout. Is there any information as to the cabinet that the roll out in Rathcoole will start from? My nearest cabinet is RCL1_028 which is fiber enabled at present.

I'd love to know on what planet Carrigaline and Cobh are "rural Ireland".

They're both very large satellite towns minutes from Cork City.

We'll be discussing Main Street, Swords as "rural rollout" next.

When your current service radius is 5km 10 minutes in a car is remote.

Most of these cabinets are actually in towns. The signal drops considerably depending on the distance from the cabinet so that many rural areas will still only be getting speeds of less than 5. Sure, its an improvement on the current broadband, but its certainly wont be fast at the end of one of these blue lines.

No it doesn't, this is fibre to the home.

Yeah, but they're actually pretty built up towns.
Carrigaline is basically a suburb of 15,000 people.

I don't know if it's just the usual "Dublin" vs "Down the country" mentality or just a bit of rural-washing to make it sound like they're rolling things out in actual rural places.
