Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Current Players You Feel Will Become Successful Managers

Obviously it's impossible to know right now how things will turn out, but maybe one we can zombie bump in years to come. :)

I like John O'Shea's chances if it's something he pursues when he hangs up his boots. A very intelligent man, a good leader, and he has first hand experience of football at both ends of the spectrum - under one of the best managers and clubs of all time and going from that to the shit-show that is Sunderland.

Vincent Kompany is also one that jumps out to me. My opinion of him as a player is well documented on here, but I think he could make a good manager.

Frank Lampard maybe.Very intelligent player ,hard worker and over achiever, likeable personality and seems to have a calm demeanor.

I suspect though that soccer will go the way of American Football soon and coaching will be very specialised pursuit and the actual main aim of some people rather than just a thing to settle for after a long career.Something that they will train at from a young age and the vast majority of top coaches won't have been great players or may not have even played the game professionally for very long.

There is very little incentive anymore for players with the money they earn to bother going through the hassle of being a coach and doing something that will always be secondary to their playing career but with added hassle and pressure.

Controversial opinion perhaps, but John Terry.

Xabi Alonso - Such a great reading of the game, with a clear ethos of how it should be played (based on interviews he's done).

Dirk Kuyt - Often players who have solid careers despite physical limitations seem to make good managers. Kuyt's legs weren't always able to do what his brain wanted them to, but his intention was almost always right. Had a great sense of space on the field and when to arrive in the right spot too. Always had the idea that he was more tactically aware than most, looking for unbalanced moments to attack. As a bonus, he's rock solid mentally - would trust him as much as anyone in a crunch situation.

Glen Johnson could be interesting. Clearly a bit brighter than your average player. If he had the appetite for it, could be decent.

Of the current pool squad, not a lot stand out to be honest. Maybe Joe Allen, or Clyne. Both seem very switched on tactically with a good sense of what should be done in different areas of the pitch.

Elsewhere, Pirlo is probably a bit of a cheat, but seems like a good shout.
Speaking of New York, Lampard could be decent too I think, though I'm not sure he fancies it.
Another present New Yorker i'd love to see manning the touchline is Raul.

Despite a bad start, I still think Seedorf has it in him to be a good manager, if he fancies it (not a current player anymore though, of course).

How has Giggs played this season? You'd barely know he was playing when I've seen utd this season.

He doesn't enjoy sitting in the dugout though.

Sorry I was being sarcastic - he'd be awful as judged on the appraisal of his own talents.

I thought Keane and Souness would make great managers and look how that turned out.

I'd say Mascherano will be be given a shot somewhere considering his reputation. He may have to go back to Argentina first but I think he could become a great manager.
