This is showing up on the Setanta Ireland listing, is that the channel you get for free on UPC?

Yes, that's the free one. Spurs/BD on it at 6 also.
Slightly surprised they didn't put Liverpool/MUFC behind the paywall, and Anderlecht v Hadjuk Split (or whatever) on the free station.

Its because, right now, both teams are doing fairly shite. Posters' confidence is at an all time low.

It would be the equivalent of shit talking someone's job prospects while you're standing in the dole queue.

That said, allow me to be the first to say; Fuck United. I hope we hammer them.

That must go on the list. Inform Owayn at once.

Darmian was better at the start of the season but his form dipped and he was injured so Clyne edges it for now. Could all change

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/mar/09/manchester-united-liverpool-europe-sir-alex-ferguson

Decent article on the history of the 'rivalry' and how it wasn't always so bitter.

Things of note I wasn't aware of:

    • United played a couple of home games at Anfield in the early 1970's after being banned from OT and Liverpool offered them the stadium
    • Liverpool offered a couple of players to United after Munich
    • United fans sang "Good Luck, Liverpool" after the 1977 FA Cup Final before Liverpool went off to play the European Cup Final
    • The teams once fixed a match between each other to ensure United didn't get relegated

Maybe we can all be friends.

I'm fairly certain that your prediction is doomed to failure, as no possible outcome can lead to both teams being victorious.

A card happy ref who seems to be different when reffing in Europe compared to in Spain.

So far this season in Europe he has averaged out 4.4 yellow cards per game.

Another way did 5 games given 22 yellow cards and one red, his last game was the 1st leg between PSG and Chelsea

Red card in the match at 13/5, had to lump on that!

I know Mata got sent off last week but I just cant see united getting a red tonight as we are simply too meak we dont even do cynical trips to stop counters most of the time..
Although a liverpool red or overs on the card points might be a good shout

I meant progress to the next stage obviously

Holding it over the other team being the highlight of a season, how far we have fallen. Both clubs' current situation a prime example of bad management, at least Liverpool have made a good choice now, if Klopp can't succeed at Liverpool you'd wonder who can.

If MopHead plays he always has a good chance.

Moreno for us because he does something stupid :D

Milner missed training yesterday with flu, don't know if he'll play.
Skrtel is fit but is down the pecking order, i don't expect him to play.

Neither will probably play, so that slightly decreases your chance of winning.

This thread will probably be a walk-in the park compared to next week. Barring a big margin of victory neither supporter will be gloating too much after tonight's match as it will just be thrown back in their face next week if it goes wrong. Add in lots of alcohol for Paddy's day and you'll have a belter next week. MY prediction is that next week's thread will be a far more exciting watch then either of the two games.

De Gea will get man of the match he always has a good match against Liverpool and has ensured victory for Utd.

If Liverpool lose both legs I will be severely disappointed.

Both sides are not world beaters but by looking at the last 2 meetings Utd were the more dominant much to my annoyance.

    United to win for me.

We've had a word with the referee tonight and UEFA delegate, they've agreed to no marginal offsides, no penalties and abandonment of "but there was contact" interpretations.

A dull game will be a good game....

    Same with Liverpool.

Back in the day, there'd be loads of players on both teams that would tread the line. Characters such as Keane or Gerrard on non existent in both teams now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Korat

All Liverpool have to do is sit back in their own half and let Utd pass the ball over and back until someone makes a mistake and gives the ball away then one or two passes will be enough to send Sturridge or Firmino through. De Gea might save the first one but they'll get a few goes at it if they stick to the formula.

As stated, lots of people hyping on the cards because of the Ref and the rivalry.

Can't see it myself, last few games hasn't had many cards. And most of the players that got them don't play now.

Taking Under 4.5/ No card before 27:00

young martial is already making a name for himself for his 'falling over' aswell lest we forget, one thing i hope for is that the tie is not decided by a dive,or simulation, that would be awful ,unless it benefits liverpool, then it would be hilarious
