Well, not quite, taking down a player is at least 'honest', in that you know you're going to have to face the consequences. You'll be sent off, maybe give away a pen, whatever.

What Owen is suggesting is the exact opposite, you trick a ref into punishing the wrong person.

Both part of the game now, but they're not the same thing.
