At 8am this morning Windmill Road was closed off at Kildare Road and there were uniformed and armed gardaí standing there.

I went around by Clonard Road on to the quieter Old County Road and along that road at the junction of Raleigh Square were more uniformed gardaí but also armed gardaí wearing balaclavas (or rather a black facemask covering up to their eyes), a baseball cap with 'Garda' on it and carrying guns (discreetly).

So, what's going on? I surmise it has something to do with David Byrne (the criminal who with his flashy cars and wealth was a role model/recruiting magnet to local kids) as his home was on Raleigh Square, but it's over a month since he was gunned down.
