    I have spotted a few helicopters hovering around the Dublin 15/M50 area this afternoon around 3pm. Any idea whats going on? It doesn't seem to be the Garda Helicopter either, they look Navy in colour.

    Usually a cash escort, they're regular enough.

    There has been a series of raids on criminals around the city throughout the day.

    This one though is most likely an escort from the airport. I have an office out by the airport and see it often enough when over there.

    Flew very low over my estate, was just a plain black helicopter. Headed towards IBM in Damastown.

    I have seen the cash excorts before, moving down the M50 but there was two of them hovering over Blanchardstown and Finglas direction. It could be related to the CAB raids :-S

    Interesting. Were they actually hovering and just travelling in circles? My money is still on them being an escort, as bad as our gangs are I'd be surprised they'd have anything other than the garda helicopter.

    From where I am, i think it was hovering over the m50 roundabout for a few mins

    I saw what was presumably the same helicopter over Hartstown around 3.30, headed roughly in the direction of Ongar. It was very low over the houses and travelling very slowly. It would seem to be an odd place to be flying over if it was a cash escort.

    Think it was a post about it before, someone said it's ESB checking the overhead cables lines. Checks twice a year for loose cables etc. It has a big camera in the front.
