    Dual Boot Windows 10 + linux mint 17.3 info! thoughts?

    After upgrading my secondary/spare/old XP machine to Linux mint 17.3 and impressed by results details here post #16

    I decided to make my primary windows 10 machine a dual boot system

    i.e.
    Windows 10 OS on one partition
    Linux mint 17.3 "rosa" OS on another partition

    So I downloaded Yumi for Windows(this makes the bootable flash) here
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/
    Download Linux mint 17.3 ISO file here (take note of MD5 number)

    Get a 8GB Flash drive
    Run Yumi and create a bootable ISO file on the flash drive
    Change Bios to boot from USB flash drive

    Use EasyBCD 2.3 to modify MBR record options as explained in first video

    Volia no issues so far, Going to check all devices yet.
    runs really well and fast.

    Any else doing this? thoughts, comments, risks?

    I run Windows 8.1 in VirtualBox for the rare occasions when I need Windows. Used to dual boot Win Vista and Mint 13 a few years back, but no more.
    Now I multi-boot Linux distros and have some VMs of Linux distros too.

    No other thought, but I bought a machine running Windows 8.1 last year, wiped it and ran Mint 17.2. Then decided on a move to Fedora 22 and haven't looked back since. I may go back to Linux Mint when 18 is released and stable.

    I'm just after buying a new windows laptop, so have been thinking of the dual boot route, but the Ubuntu wiki advises the virtual machine option outlined by a poster above..

    Not techy enough to understand why, but I'll be going with what the geeks say :)

    I've used Ubuntu for a few years now, and would never go back to windows as my primary os..
    Only holding on to it for the rare occasion i might be forced to use it..

    Just a query on this if you don't mind, as I've never run a VM..
    Does it start looking to do huge windows updates every time you boot to windows, as it would if you booted up a laptop that hasn't been used in a while?

    Yes it is a 'normal' Win install except in a virtual machine instead of physical hardware.
    Everything else is near enough the same.
    Turn off updates if you don't want them ;)
