Fairy cakes

    I'm just on maternity leave so trying to keep busy by baking I've baked fairy cakes couple of times but they came out burnt at the bottom what am I doing wrong I've tried reducing the heat any ideas

    Try putting your fairy cake tin on another baking tray (or in a spare cupcake tin, if you have one) instead of directly on the oven shelf, and try putting the tray on a higher shelf.
    Did it make any difference at all when you reduced the cooking temperature?

    What temperature are you using? Fan or ordinary electric oven or gas?

    you could also just cover your tins in foil, i'm guessing the coating on them is dark.
