Do you have to have a residence card,or similar to buy this?

This is only for new meteor customers so us current customers cant avail of it :-(

That may be true if you are going abroad for a week. If you are from Donegal and go to Derry once a week for a couple of hours shopping or to go to a show, the possibility of using a small bit of data without being gouged might be Godsend.

Answer to that is a two sim phone,

Wrong. They are not charging the appropriate domestic rates (zero) to those who have inclusive allowances.

If I have topped up my PAYG SIM by €20 and therefore have unlimited data for a month, then when roaming in the EEA during that month I should be charged no more than the applicable domestic rate (0c/MB) plus the applicable surcharge (5c/MB ex-VAT). Not 101c/MB.

I agree. You see, I never mentioned inclusive allowances... just those without a bundle (if they exist). It's actually not that clear from that screenshot. They do say it will not impact free allowances but not which way it will not impact them - as in they are still used or are un-touched.

Yeah, the ambiguity in the wording does sound like their chancing their arm to see what they can get away with.

According to the European Commision, which will reflect on ALL Networks in ALL EU Countries....

    We know...

The question is does 'domestic rate' include the inclusive allowances with, in this example, Three PAYG or not? For some carriers it does not - Vodafone UK will just charge the surcharge unless you 'opt in' to a daily fee to use your allowances. A light user would find that good. A heavy user should opt in.

Other carriers or MVNOs such as Tesco Mobile haven't said at present their plans.

So if I was going to Italy for 3 weeks which package would give me the cheapest coverage. If I go for the 25 euro offer for 6 months, can I cancel after a month. I usually use Tesco mobile
If they hadn't changed it, three will be the best bet. Italy falls into their "Feel at Home", so can use your data and calls as if you were in Ireland. Did it myself last september.
With PAYG (put 20euros and get "unlimited" (15Gb) data)

Just received via text from Three

From Three: Good News From 30 April Three is reducing rates for calls, texts and data while roaming in the EU. Make calls for 6.15c/min, receive for 1.4c/min, 2.46c/SMS and data 6.15c/MB. For more see three.ie/roam13. T&Cs apply.

Remember, ALL customers on ALL networks will be able to use their inclusive calls/texts/data when roaming in the EEA from May 1st.

Only proviso is that until 16th June 2017, the networks will be able to apply ex-VAT surcharges of up to 5c/min for outgoing calls, 1c/min for incoming calls, 2c per SMS and 5c/MB for data.

If you don't have remaining inclusive calls/texts/data, you will be charged the standard domestic rates applicable to your plan, plus any surcharge your network chooses to apply.

Calls/texts are actually getting more expensive from today, did you see that coming?

    Somebody got that wrong, because:

**From 30 April 2016 onwards, the roaming fee equal to domestic price + €0.05 may not exceed €0.19 for voice and €0.20 for data. The roaming fee equal to domestic price + €0.02 may not exceed €0.06 for SMS.

Yes, the whole point of abolishing roaming charges is that you pay exactly the same when you're roaming as you do in your home country.

So if I get a Meteor sim with 15gb cap, I will only be charged 20c extra for using that data abroad is that right?

    That cap is per megabyte.

    That cap is per megabyte.

I think it's that if you have any of the 15gb allowance left, you can only be charged +5c p/mb within your 15gb allowance, and if you use up your 15gb, then you can only be charged a maximum of 20c p/mb. So if your out of bundle p/mb rates were 20c p/mb, there'd be no additional cost, if they were 18c, you'd be charged 2c extra, not 5, as this would go over the 20c max, if they were 13c, you'd be charged 18c and so on.

I am bit confused. For inclusive data, on Three, how much would i be charged per gb used in another EU country?

    5c per mb.
    1gb = 1000 mb
5c x 1000mb = 50 euro unless you have an all you can eat plan.

probably best to avoid netflix while on the holliers until 2017!
