Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where to buy a good quality dog house?

Hi, as the title says I'm looking to buy a new dog house for the garden, preferably a wooden one. Where's the best place to buy? I'm rather sceptical of the quality of pet shop dog houses. So would a hardware store be better? Thanks.

    Where are you located?

The best place to buy is from one of those fellas around the country that builds garden fencing/log cabins/garden sheds/ kids playhouses. I have two that are treble insulated, removable roof for cleaning and the cost was about €10 more than very poor quality pet shop ones of similar size.

There's always ads on adverts/donedeal etc for custom made ones - i.e. not just crappy flat pack ones.

Might be worth posting in the regional forum as well. If you find someone, my advice would be to give them the exact dimensions you want including how big you want the door. They might not know much about dogs. The fella that made mine made the wall between the door and sleeping area a bit too big so teddy wouldn't have been able to get around it when fully grown so it went in at an angle reducing the size of the sleeping area. I described him as 'Springer spaniel sized'. No way could a Springer get into Teddy's kennel ;)

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I'll look for a decent carpenter and I already have the dimensions. Thanks again.
