Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's called obstruction. United look like a different team in the last ten minutes or so. If they play like this on Thursday ....

No worse than diving and Payets done that all day.

Hang on West Ham, a replay suits Liverpool :)

    How?

The more games they have the more they've to manage their squad for the 2nd leg.

Doesnt make any difference though, the second leg is this week and would have to be played regardless of today.

You're reaching there. I mean, you're going through anyway but a replay with West Ham won't effect the Europa League tie at all.

What going on with the corners?

The officials have missed two Utd corners and given West Ham one for nothing.

    West Ham have this.

Liverpool are in the mythical race for 4th along with Utd and the Hammers so the extra game suits, mind you I suppose the date isn't yet known or is it?

If the 2 teams directly above Liverpool have to play an extra game then of course it suits Liverpool. There might be suspensions picked up, or injuries, or even just extra tiredness resulting in other dropped points. It's pretty simple how it is preferable for Liverpool that there is a replay even if Liverpool are not involved in this competition itself any more.

A replay gives Michael Owen another game to call Schweinsteiger...Swinetiger

    Fair result.

I'd agree with you here as you seem to be a normal United fan.

Fair result, dire game, crap ref (for both teams).

Depending on the date of the replay though. Will LVG play for the FA Cup or Europa League? He's gonna have to juggle the squad a little more to keep it fresh.

Savage Ballitch gets excited on sideline, he has to be happy with a replay at Upton Park. West Ham, when at home is not an easy task.

Thoughts of having go threw a game like that again.

We arent going to effect Liverpool's top 4 ambitions.

Up and down performance, pretty typical of the season. Good match, really lacking that cutting edge in the team. Officials gave us quite the ride today. Another game is hardly whats needed for that squad this season either.. ah well

Just watching the replay of Payet going down again. 100% dive and a kick back to manufacture contact.

Yeah, I'm not sure about Webb viewing that as a definite pen. If there is contact it is minimal and as Payet is already falling.

    Our equaliser though.....

Has Atkinson ever had an excellent game?

Lets be honest, our equalizer really should have been a free.

A draw a fair result. Good arguments to be made as to why both goals shouldn't have been allowed/happened.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Korat

Seeing the replay Schweinsteiger didn't deliberately block Randolph so it wasn't free just a collision between players.

Bad goalkeeping as far as I'm concerned,Randolph ran into Bastian. I just hope he won't make a big mistake like that at the Euros.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Korat

If a goalkeeper has right of way in the penalty area then they should be awarded a free out at every corner kick. If anything there's a better case for giving goalkeepers a free out in that situation because opponents are deliberatley trying to block them.

Or is it only a free kick if Man Utd happen to score?:p

Utd may be sh1te at the moment but it warms the heart to know there are many people, who don't support Utd, but care so much what happens with them. :D

Bastian was facing the other way but he did jump in front of Randolph in fairness, not much the keeper can do about it. I dont think it was a free myself as the block was not intentional.

There's a difference between a player standing in front of a goalkeeper at a corner and not moving and a player running in front of him and blocking him on the goal line. It was a free out no question but again it's understandable that it wasn't given going by how Atkinson performed, second half especially.

I'd very much like to see the incident between Payet and Varela again. Varela seemed to fairly outmuscle Payet initially (no free given) before Payet fairly outmuscled Varela (free given).

Hoping for a better referee in the replay. One that isn't scared to give big (but ultimately correct) decisions against Man Utd.

How do you make that out?

    He doesn't.
