Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So yesterday i gave my lab x Raven one of these (Pic below)

    IDShot_540x540.jpg

This is the only out of the ordinary thing i gave her,
I also gave one to my Rottie Ralph.. ( no sickness from him)

Last night she woke me 4 times to go to the toilet.. which was basically explosive diarrhoea :(
    My poor baby..

Today she had her breakfast as normal and off we popped to the beach..

She was trying to go to the toilet a good few times,
Which was when i saw the blood,
Not a huge amount, but enough that i was like ****.. lets keep an eye on her..

Her mood hasn't changed at all, and she just ate her dinner now, and is konked out on the couch after her walk..

Should i keep an eye on her poo's and give it a day or two to see if it passes before worrying??:(:(:(:(:(

If they get something new they are not used to it can cause digestive upset. Does she have any known food allergies? Are you sure it is blood and not just orange dye from the treat?

I would be inclined to wait until tomorrow and see what the situation is then.

I'd go to the vet straight away.

Not to alarm you but our dog had those symptoms late one night and even though we took him to the vet the next morning, he never came home. He was transferred to UCD after showing no improvement in the first few days and he died 2 weeks later. He was only 2, and we're all still heartbroken.

UCD still have to give us the results of the postmortem but they're isolated a few strains of antibiotic resistant infections which they think contributed.

The first thing they thought was hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (wish it had been this!) which is still extremely serious but the animal can typically be saved with early intervention.

Other possibility is a bowel obstruction which is also very serious.

Don't chance it, please take him to the vet. Blood in the stool is never something to be ignored.

Blood in the stool is a classic symptom of colorectal cancer. It could also be diverticulosis or there is also a good chance that it might be necrotizing enterocolitis.
I'd get the pet to the vet.

Small amount of blood in poo is also a classic sign of a normal upset tummy/colitis. From experience I'd wait and see what happens if it was one of my two knowing I'd given them a treat that didn't agree with them. I'd also feed something gentle on their tummies for mine being raw fed stinky tripe is the go to meal for upset tummies! If they weren't raw fed I'd give something like potato and cooked chicken/turkey/whitefish
