I think I got it for under 50 quid when it was on sale with Farpoint included. I've only used it with two games though, Farpoint which is excellent and Doom VFR which isn't so good. Good to see Borderlands supporting it as I think the peripheral needs more support from developers to make it a worthwhile purchase. It's an excellent piece of kit that is underused at the minute for me.

    Let me know

Ace Combat 7 is a super game, both the regular game and the VR. It's the first VR game that made me feel quite nauseous after about 30 mins of VR play. Well worth buying

Is it much better with a HOTAS or decent with standard gamepad?

Depends on what you're after. It's much more simulation-like and therefore difficult with a HOTAS. Much easier with a DualShock. So, it depends on which one you would enjoy better.

Some nice specs on the piece of kit, really impressed with the OLED screens, much nicer than manky LCD. Still though I'd have concerns over the PS4 being powerful enough to maintain a decent framerate required not to give everyone motion sickness. I'd also be concerned that in the history of gaming no console add on has been successful and this could end up as another Mega CD.

Have Sony silently given up on PSVR in its current state? Since december there hasn't been new stock of PS Move controllers in Argos, Smyths, GameStop or on Amazon. Seems like Sony have just stopped making them.

The PSVR is considerably more successful than the MegaCD, also VR adoption across all platforms has soared in the last year.

    It's here to stay :)

Surely the people saying Sony have given up on their "mega CD" have never played the PSVR. Its an unbelievable piece of kit and VR is the future of gaming.

Nah the numbers that have sold PSVR wise make it alot more successful then the MEGA CD.
The main issue is that Sony will be moving towards PS5 ignoring any PS4 developments.

It doesnt look good. I was onto Gamestop and they said that their purchasing dept hasn't a clue on when new stock will be released. It's driving me mad I really want to pick up a set!

Yep - I want to play Beat Sabre, the main reason I bought PS VR but the controllers are just gone.

I've played (and bought) PS VR, but when Sony don't seem to be producing the controllers required for at least some of the games, it raises questions on their commitment to the platform.

You (and I) may think it is great, but I am also being prevented from playing the game I most want to play by Sony. Which feels like they are silently giving up.

Not adding PSVR titles to PS+ (with Vita and PS3 games being removed from the offer) additionally seems like a deliberately missed opportunity.

The Move controller situation is strange. I was lucky a month back that I just randomly checked the Smyths website and they had them. That was after a month or so of hunting for them everywhere. I don't think it's due to PSVR selling badly. Maybe they're working on a new alternative to the Move controllers.

Yeah I've heard people say that Sony are probably focusing on the next version, which is a shame seeing as I only bought mine back in December. I understand supply and demand and all that but It’s a bit of a let down to the people who invested and are now missing out. I’d kill for a game of Beat Saber or Skyrim with the moves!

There’s a few going in CEX but I don’t fancy paying 100+ for a pre-owned set. Hopefully there will be some more in stock soon. I’ll just keep on my usual daily website check in the meantime.

I think the success of the PSVR is actually the reason you're seeing the shortage. Sony essentially put it together with tidbits of peripherals that no one ever really used for anything. EG: the camera and the moves. My moves are clearly leftovers from the PS3 era despite buying them brand new last year. I don't think they anticipated the demand and are stuck with a hard decision to make about whether to restart an old supply line for moves or just hope they can ride out the need for them in favour of new designs. It looks like they might have chosen the latter.

I'd say it's just similar to what happened with Nintendo and the shortage of the NES Classic Mini .. they were probably unprepared for just how popular it was going to be in such a short space of time.

Yeah the moves are a strange one, they seem to show up for a few weeks and it can be months on end before stock appears again. I'm lucky in that my wife somehow sourced a pair to give me with the VR as an xmas present :)

I don't really use them a lot (apart from extended Beat Saber sessions & a few other games like Xing, I expect you to die etc). The AIM is getting much more use - mainly because no matter how hard I try to break the habit, Firewall Zero Hour keeps dragging me back every single time :D Wish there were more titles like it.

Did you try Honor and Duty DDay yet?
I've had alot of fun with it, uses the Aim controller really well.

I have been tempted but to be honest from what I've watched of it, I'm not sure how much I'd get out of it. Seems very basic at the moment. Definitely one I'm keeping an eye on though so if it becomes a must have at any point I'll get it. Firewall is just too good to replace at the moment :D

It is alot of fun the **** graphic style do put alot of people off, but the 16v16 is good.
Its priced right at less then €10.
But the support the Dev's are giving it has being class, I think three or 4 patches to fix little annoying things in the first week.
It is a fun shooter, not alot of strategy but when you start to half plan what you are doing it helps!

I know firewall was impossible for me to put down for a long time, sh1t internet helped :D

I reached out to PS on chat, agent was helpful but has no information as they're tech support. Asked him to escalate it. Lovely chap emails me half an hour later, confirming the same but stated that they are making more Move Controllers, but only retail can advise when, which is funny because retail are in the same boat as the consumers, ie: they're not being told anything.

So the Beat Saber update came in last night, with the new UI, song menus and DLC. The UI does feel sharper and smoother, but I'm not liking the categories for songs now. It's a pain to jump out of one folder, into another, realise the song you want is not in that one, back out, repeat. I'm sure it's some legal part with the new songs having to have their own area for now, but I hope they bring in the option to view all songs in the 1 list.

Speaking of, the preview of the new DLC. Seems to be a gaming theme from what I can tell. Some of them sound like pure noise, but I didn't like all the original songs first time either, so they may grow on me. Annoying this is the link to but them is there, but goes nowhere. 12 hours and waiting... Don't know if my forearm muscles are up for it though!

Littlestar VR Cinema have allowed media server streaming now. So you can stream 3D movies to your PS4 from your PC now. Only works with MP4 files it seems. Does anyone have a quick guide to converting .264 to this format?

I tried it with the mp4 and it was perfect, finally our own cinema without the hassle of usb sticks.

It costs €2 p/m to do it though.

I've never tried "cinema" with my Rift. Is it actually good? Sounds weird.

Yep it's pretty damn good. Especially 3D movies

You can play 3D BluRays direct on the PSVR, it's great if you don't have a 3D TV.

EDIT: sorry I see you mentioned Rift, yeah you can watch movies using Virtual Desktop or BigScreen.

I watch most 3D movies these days on my Oculus Go and it's literally like sitting in the cinema as you can see all the seats around you, plus the on-screen lights actually reflect off the surrounding walls to create the ultimate immersion.
