    Hi there,

I am looking to possibly set up a company that helps selling food into Europe,
Basically find great Irish food companies and help them get on the shelves in places with terrible quality food like Germany,

Do you think this is possible? What kind of money would I need?
I speak German and I have some experience in the area but not in food exactly,
big opportunities as nobody is doing it well at the moment by the looks of things.
I also used to live in Portugal but the economy isn't great there at the moment

    Any ideas?

You have to comply with company law which is very similar to the UK. Register as a company. Details about your company such as how much shares you have. Your language skills will sure come in handy when dealing with customs from various European countries. Best to luck to you on your new business venture.

theres no problem getting Irish lamb or beef in Germany through the food wholesalers.

Here Metro Cash and Carrys pages on lamb and beef (Revenue‎: ‎€31.6 billion , so, em, fairly big in the business)
    https://www.metro.de/produktwelten/fleisch/rindfleisch
    https://www.metro.de/produktwelten/fleisch/lammfleisch
and in the markets themselves (I have a cash and carry trade card) it is fairly prominently placed.

In standard supermarkets you have fairly easy access to Irish meat, and even in the likes of Penny Markt (rival to Aldi/ Lidl, 3,550 stores, 10billion turnover) Irish steak is part of their standard range.

and across all supermarkets Kerrygold is very very present, with chedar going from being a rarety 10 years ago to being in nearly every supermarket now.

I dont know what your niche will be, but even if you do find it, the scale of the companies operating mean they may just cut out the middle man should you be remotely successful.

If youre just stuck for a job, Bord Bia have a position that I've seen widely advertised which includes specialist training in what they need, so maybe look into that.
