I know people will hate me for saying this, but a more experienced jockey might have won on the horse

Possibly although it was still a very good performance.

Well yes, but Nina has had bigger races than this

Pacha Du Polder could of won that if closer coming to the last. Seemed to be badly judged by jockey, she had loads of horse there but not used to the best of its ability.

Unbelievable achievement by Pendo and fair play to her.

Christ this is some load of tripe.

Never seen 5th place get as much applause in my life.

    Show the winner ffs.

It was a good advertisement for female jockeys, and how there should be more women jockeys.

I wasn't comparing the two, just meant that Nina deserves recognition for her brilliance as much as Pendleton does for what she has done in the past year

Think Sam could have made more use of Paint the Clouds but ill have to watch it again.

Was running on again at the finish but the ship had sailed by then.

Thought he would be hard to catch on the fast ground.

Looked to be travelling well, but hit a flat spot on the inside and couldn't pick up, as soon as it came out, it started to fly.. Ship had well sailed tho

Don't know whether to cash out on the potential treble???

Ruby said squateur is best handicapped horse this week and Elliot's horses have ran very well obviously so think k might as well stick with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

How many winners has Mullins had?

I fancy an EW bet on Velvet Maker here in the last.

Have a free bet as Djak came second

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭80s Child

Had a pretty meh day. Two places. No winners. After yesterday's triumphs I was hoping to finish on a high, but Jesus today had been tough!

Here's hoping the last goes better!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 537 ✭✭✭clever user name

Got a tenner free bet back on Djak so gonna blow it on the last race.

Rock the world 5 euro win
    Lough Kent 5 euro win

10er on Velvet maker at 11/1.

    Paint The Clouds/Djakadam 0.5pts win

    11.5pts staked

Apart from 1pt back as a free bet from Djakadam, absolutely nothing.
I think this goes down as my worst Cheltenham week so far. Guess my beginners luck finally ran out :)

Stuck my free bet on a Schalke/Getafe/Marseille/Middlesbrough/Rangers accum. There's still hope I can finish my only betting week of the year in profit !!

Thanks for all the tips on here. I tend to watch this forum periodically. As someone who hasn't a clue about but has a genuine interest in horse racing, the knowledge on here made the week fun. No big wins but a few winners thanks to here. Some great write ups over the course of the week.

Don Cossack not suited to Cheltenham is a red herring. Sh*te talk imo. I admire the horse but I've never really warmed to him. He's promised a lot and failed to deliver on the biggest stage: Cheltenham twice and the King George. His two runs at Cheltenham: he fell and last year made a lot of jumping errors. He could do that at any track though, like he did at Kempton. I think if he doesn't make any jumping errors he should win. Great race in store.

    Great Gold Cup.

Delighted for Cooper. Loved his celebration, shushing his doubters haha. He's gotten a lot of flack, particularly over the KG but DC has never been the best jumper and Cooper gave him an absolute peach of a ride today.

Gutted for connections of Cue Card. He came absolutely tanking. Maybe Brennan should have taken a pull, you could see he was going to clatter it a mile off. Would he have won? Real shame we'll never know. Do people who think DC would have won the KG if he stood up think the same about CC today? It would have been very, very close imho. Like DC not being suited to Cheltenham was a red herring, so was CC not staying. Hey ho.

Russell gave DP an absolute b******s of a ride. It might have on worked on Lord Windermere in a god awful GC with a non-staying fav but he should never have been that far off the pace with such class animals in the race. He shouldn't have been on the horse in the first place anyway.

Hopefully WPM has learned that when you have a horse good enough to win the Champion Chase or the Gold Cup you don't run them in the f***ing Ryanair. You have a second jockey, USE HIM.

All in all, a brilliant and truly memorable Festival. Now for Dundalk, where the real action happens and where the big boys play.

As suspected. Nothing today. Hit the post with a 33/1, 12/1 and 10/1. At least I'm getting pis sed! Thanks for all the advice, had a good week overall. Until next year. Adeui

    The real home of champions!

Midfield General in the 7:30 I think is surely better than the 40/1 odds I got just there.

    8 places
    11 losers

I'd say Rich Ricci is not a happy camper right now.

Vautour should have been in the Gold Cup.

Mullins got his just desserts in this at least for messing people around.

Word pretty much everywhere on track all week was that it was Ricci's decision. Indeed Patrick was actually giving out about it, saying he'd rather go GC

On Pendleton and the horse, i'd say deep down Nicholls is disgusted, although probably nicely compensated. The horse wasn't hit once and was beaten 3l. It wouldve won a furlong with a normal decent amatuer on board

If it runs at Aintree with a different jockey there will be a sizable bet from me.

Horse wouldn't have even run in the race if not to give Pendleton a ride. Consensus was the horse wouldn't stay at all, and was ridden like he wouldn't stay at all. If he got a more vigorous ride (from a better jockey) he might have just emptied.
