    Heya,

Would it matter for the drives in a Synology set up to be 7200 RPM?

I am planning to buy this config, but the WD disks do not specify speed. Allegedly the WD speed is 5400 RPM (Intellipower)

    1 x Synology DiskStation DS216+
    2 x 3000GB WD Red WD30EFRX 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s

Or should I get set of a fixed 7200RPM disks? I have read that the WD intellipower is faster than the Seagate 7200RPM.

    Cheers.

WD doesnt list the speed on the reds because it doesnt matter, they're NAS drives. Dont use non NAS drives from any vendor in a RAID array.

In any case, your network only allows 110MB/s, those drives manage about 240MB/s Read(not too far off for write) so they're already faster than youll ever use.
