Why is Valencia allowing that ball to come down? Darmian has literally bust a lung making sure that they opposition doesn't get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,107 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

Completely hanging on after inviting all the pressure. Nobody there to get the ball and pass it around so we can get up the pitch.

Its city away you have to expect to hang on a bit. It's all fairly comfortable bar the augero chance

Bony is so bad. Reminds me of a less mobile Bendtner.

    Smalling man of the match

Shocking decision he's been bad and should have been sent off

Aguero is literally the only one in that City team even trying.

    Yeahhhhhhhh

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

On the plus side for City at least they can say they managed to sell out a game at least once this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

So many average players in this City squad, so many players on a downward slope, so many too injury prone. They are so weak mentally and that's reflected on results against the top 6/7 teams in the league this season and it's reflected in their inability to turn around games when they go a goal behind. Pep's rebuilding job is a mammoth task.

Well done to United. Deserved on your first half display. Second half was more even, but the damage was done at that stage. The way this season has gone/is going, I can't even really say I'm THAT surprised. Disappointed though, definitely.

    Deserved for Utd.

However, City really have a lot of players coasting...or just plain not good enough.

    Silva looks disinterested.
    Bony, useless.
Clichy and Sagna, only getting worse.
    Fernando, limited.
    Yaya, when it suits him.

I won't even talk about those CBs.

The team is in 2nd gear, and has been since Pellegrini's leaving was announced.

Fully on board with Pep in the Europa tbh if only to see Graham Hunter go mental

Utd looked like they had a new coach in the first half. It was nothing like the way Utd have played under LVG for the last two years.

Normal service was resumed after half time.

Actually think this is a bit harsh on Silva. He tried to get things moving today but nothing was happening around him. City need a complete overhaul this summer.

Most of the 1st team are probably thinking "Pep's gonna get rid of me the minute he arrives, well here's some EL football for you Mr !!".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

Both teams were poor, but Utd deserved their result..... if only just.

If Aguero had his shooting boots on Utd would have lost by two or three. No one should be getting carried away with that win.

Utd put on a good show against Arsenal and went back to being awful a few days later.

Wonder if Pep has signed that contract yet.

If City fall out of the top four there is only the board to blame by announcing Pellegrini's departure with half a season to go. Moody players no matter how good are not going to be motivated especially if they like the departing manager. Add in the constant talk of a player clear out by Guardiola with the likes Demichelis first out the door - centrehalf today and poor for the goal...is he going to care if City are in CL or EL or Europe at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,426 ✭✭✭McGrath5

A beautiful result, it goes some way to make up for Thursday's disappointment.

Seriously, what the feck? How is Demechellis not man of the match?

The problem is that they still have it in their hands. We need to find some consistency and at least win 5 out of our last 8 to have a chance. The international break is coming at the wrong time for us.

Don't be silly; DeMichelis won't be first out the door....

    ...he's never first to anything.

Can't blame him, he's been treated like sh*t the last while. Was Shreeve on his usual wind up merchant shtick as well? Because Pellegrini tends to strike me as a fairly classy, mild mannered type.

Man city can live with the defeat, after all they are still ahead of ManU and WHam.

However the injuries to Joe Hart and Sterling, on top of the others they already have, mean they will really struggle over the next month or two.

Poor city and their injury crises, good to see united under 18's take them to school

No he was not for once. He just asked Pellegrini about why there home form, this season was not as good as last and Pellegrini, said he just wanted too talk about the game and Geoff went too ask the question again and Pellegrini, just ended up walking away.

In fairness with the way the utd fans were acting there was no need for us.

After the amount of times the rug has been pulled from under us this season is it any wonder?

We were in control for the first half but for the majority of the second half we invited City in and lay deep.

Look at any of the match threads from when BR was in charge for you lads, even when ye were leading in alot of cases ye were waiting/expecting the team to make a balls of it, there is a thin line between pessimism and realism.

Yep. Born and bred in Manchester. Grew up about 5 minutes walk from Maine Road. I've supported them all my life (53 now), and have had a strong dislike for our quiet neighbours for a similar length of time. I'm not being sarky or wumming, but anyone not brought up in the city wouldn't understand the feelings that derby day brings on.

Yep, completely understand where you are coming from. Being from Manchester would obviously make a huge difference in how this affects you! Sorry the result wasn't what you wanted today. Not hugely affiliated with any team these days but used, as a child be a United fan. Fantasy Football is the only thing that keeps me hugely interested in it anymore.

Sadly Aguero did nothing today for my team ;)
