    I actually can't think of anything worse than showing up sober. The last official first date I went on back in 2012, I drank 3 double vodkas, a shot and a cocktail waiting for him, then fell asleep on him in the cinema. We still had more dates though

    If it was the other way around and your date did this you would probably have gotten your coat and ran.

    Yes. I was so nervous I spent 20 minutes talking about fish. No idea why. It's the first thing that popped into my head. Still got the shift though. But I later found out she was married. :(

    Yeah she had very little English too. Her husband was a big Russian fcuker, built like the side of a mountain. He didn't respect her apparently and was always tormenting her.

    On the first date? Usually before. They don't get a first date unless they were a good ****s!

    I've gone on two sober in the past few months and each time I wound up ranting about Jeremy Corbyn to them for the majority of the date. I'm in the US right now too so they hadn't a f*cking notion who I was on about.

    Alcohol just makes it easier to give up on a tangent for me, and that's invaluable!

    I always find it bizarre that people go to the cinema on a first date and people that drink and go to the cinema, even stranger. :P

    Sometimes they're the right choice. Certainly wouldn't do it a lot. Usually if I needed to feel better about myself. They're never going to see you again, it is what it is, just sex.
    I wouldn't be comfortable seeing them again. Even Fwb situations I was in, we went on "dates" got really comfortable with each other before anything happened. I had a situation with one of my housemates once, lived there for over a year - knew him well. Took it further one night (just kissing) but we went on a few dates before we were friends with benefits, even though we lived together over a year.

    I don't think so either but it's something I try to avoid for a date or two until you've a better picture of where things could be going. But I wouldn't have any real issue with it as long as neither judges the other on it - the amount of times I have heard people stating that they won't go on further dates with a person who had slept with them on the first date. :confused:

    I personally wouldn't show up for a first date drunk and I'd get myself out of there asap if the guy showed up drunk. He just wouldn't be the type of guy I'd be looking for.

    Depending on the people and the context sex on a first date can work out, but again, for me, it's something I try to avoid.
    I have no aversion to one night stands, but if I like you, I'll probably ease into things.
