I sent a few first messages to guys that I liked the look of, but more often I'd start with the messages in my inbox or with guys who had liked my profile.

I remember the first time I began online dating. I saw this woman on POF I thought was cute and I was like will I, won't I. I eventually sent her a message and was so nervous. I thought that everyone replies to everything haha how wrong was I. Lol

I went back on POF and Connecting Singles last night for the first time in ages.

On POF was chatting to a lovely guy so will see where that goes. I also saw the f**ker of an ex FWB who attacked me in a pub last year smiling smuggly at me. So being fairly unfamiliar with POF I thought if I clicked on his pic I could block him.......just opened his profile...now he probably thinks I am interested in him again and will probably try to get in touch again.

On CS I received a message from a guy I knew IRL years ago. He didn't remember me, but I remembered him so had fun trying to get him to figure out who I was. Ended up texting until 4 this morning so that was nice. Hopefully meeting him to reminisce during the week.

I send messages first all the time. How are they going to know I'm interested if I don't make it known?

Having said that I haven't been online dating for the past month or so; might pick it up again soon. Have never heard of "court me" but then again I don't listen to the radio so maybe that's why

Great name but rubbish website. I suspect it's run by March.com as it has a similar format and is just as user unfriendly on the mobile.

Just counted through my POF profile. I've contacted 143 women, got 19 replies and 15 of those have ghosted me. Now that is depressing statistics

Haha cheers. Sadly those 4 aren't in the equation anymore for different reasons (no spark, distance etc)
Would people agree that those are pretty bad numbers though?

You probably have a better record than me.

Perhaps. I not messaging enough.

Should I be sending the same message to as many girls with an added bit mentioning 1 or 2 things in their own profile.

You obviously can't make it too generic as some may realise that it was copy and paste job.

You need to stop measuring your worth by how many messages you receive!!

My dating account is disabled for now but Jesus days would go by and the only message I would receive were of the "u r so hot" variety. Then there were all the messages I sent most of which went unanswered.

But you know what? I'm in love with me. I enjoy spending time with me and doing nice things for me and being kind to me. So while it would be so wonderful to be in love with a man, I don't need it.

I by no means let it value my worth nor does it affect my confidence in the real world meeting women.
It's more so a disappointment cos I had such high hopes for online dating.

Then don't worry about how many messages you receive. Keep your account but take it in your stride. Do you have anything nice planned for the summer? A few gigs?

In fairness that's some dedication to msging people....I wouldn't even think there's 143 people online dating in my area

You're no longer supposed to shave every day, but you're also no longer supposed to flush your best mate's head down a toilet when he's passed out. Designer stubble has become alopecia from the neck down.

There's pressure on them to look like ripped Ken dolls dipped in tea. Their shoulders are wider than a pub television. They drink cocktails and creatine. Their clothes are designed to reveal gratuitous channels of flesh, all shaved and shined so you can see your own hateful, jealous, paunchy face in the gap between their pecs.

May not be for the right reasons but I am in the process of trying to get ripped as I genuinely feel it will enhance my chances with women around my age.

Tbh I don't think nice guys finish last but there are a lot of jerks out there with brilliant women. I know a few where ya get the feeling that the women don't know that they could be treated better. Now its not constantly being badly treated but just a lot of snall things and they think they way they are being treated is 'normal' or 'just part of a relationship' etc.
