I came across this annual competition, organised by Enisa

    http://www.europeancybersecuritychallenge.eu/

I don't think Ireland had an entry in last years competition which is open to finalists from their country's National competition. If not it seems like a lost opportunity. Shouldn't our National CERT or Colleges be organising this? I'm sure there would be plenty of companies willing to sponser it.

Also for anyone that is interested ENISA offer traineeships based in Athens.

    https://www.enisa.europa.eu/recruitment/vacancies

    From the competition rules -

The country representative team should be composed of top participants from the national challenge.
    • Team is made up from junior and senior participants.
    • Junior participants aged 14-19, seniors 20-30 years.
    • There may be maximum 10 participants in team, including maximum 5 seniors.
    • The participants may not have (finished) Masters degree (or equivalent) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) area.
    • The participants may not have full time employment in security area.
    • The cutoff date for above is the beginning of national competition.
Each participating country has to pay the participation fee of 6000€, which will cover local transport, accommodation, meals and social events for the team. Flights to and from Germany will not be covered by this.

Sounds like a lot of hassle and restrictions when I could just jump onto https://ctftime.org/ check when the next CTF is and enter for free.....

There will be this year... watch this space...:D

The organisers of the zerodays ctf have been in touch and have had talks with Enisa and have started the ball rolling on this a few weeks ago. So they will be selecting and sending a team to the Finals this year. This will be a separate event from their normal Zerodays CTF...

OK after months of back and forth this is finally happening. So anyone interested in possibility making the Irish team can register and start attempting some of the challenges. Only a few simple challenges up at the moment but more up in the next few days. So please spread the word. If you're not 14-30, you can still have a go (just can't win) just put in an age over 30 so I'll know not to count your scores :)

Qualifiers for this years ECSC have just started. There is more info on their webpage https://www.zerodays.ie/ecsc.htm

Basically the rules have changed this year to allow industry professionals and anyone u26 to take part so it's no longer just students. So spread the word with any friends or colleagues that might interested in a trip to Málaga, Spain.
