So Hart shouldnt be afraid of "they are both Dutch so that will harm my chances"

Not sure if i should post it here or in the humor thread....

As you might know, Dick Advocaat left his assistant role at the Dutch team earleir this week and is now being replaced by..... Ruud Gullit.

    And...... he is gone.
Well, cant work out an agreement with the Dutch FA so he was never in.

****ing joke. They cant find anyone who wants to work with Danny no clue Blind.

I read somewhere that Nice have recently been taking over/invested in by Chinese businessmen (iirc). They've qualified for Europe for the first time in ages and last year or the year before moved into a much bigger stadium. It's the perfect time for them to make a go of it and build something at the club.

Southampton have signed 35 y.o. Stuart Taylor on a one-year-deal.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how many career appearances he's actually made? 100 tops, surely.

That looks like the type of move clubs do when they want to phase in a new goalkeeping coach. City did it with Richard Wright and Liverpool are doing it with Manninger.

You bring in an experienced keeper as cover for a season or two and then let them transition into a coaching role.

Everyone seems to be doing it with ex-Arsenal keepers! All 3 of them were at the club at the same time funnily enough. None of them starters.

Think it's more about having a backup keeper who is home grown.

Doubt it, Southampton are absolutely fine for homegrown players, they could even get rid of some and still match the quota.

Either way, it could be a smart little move for them.

    Daryl Murphy to Newcastle.

Not a signing I was expecting. :pac:

Good Championship goalscorer. Long season. Will be used as back up/thrown into the mix in tight games when we need a bit of height.

Uninspiring signing but he's probably a good one to have around the 18 yard area if we need a few goals.

Surprised he is going for the pay cheque in China. I believed he would have given it another go in Europe before retirement.

You are in the Championship now! You need Championship level players not stroppy continental players that took you down! Murphy' career is the epitome of an Indian Summer. Can't argue with a player with 52 goals in 3 seasons.

Get 2 years out of him

Read an article that there's no 24 hour recall clauses allowed this season. Whereas before you could have a young goalkeeper on loan in the lower leagues as your third choice, available to be recalled in 24 hours if needed, that's no longer possible. So it's more beneficial all round to leave the young lad getting first team football elsewhere, and sign a veteran who's happy to be third choice, with little prospect of game time.
When FIFA brought in the new rules about transfer windows, English Football League clubs objected strongly and were given an exemption by being allowed to make emergency loans outside of transfer windows - I think that has ended this year, so also covers players out on loan being recalled at short notice outside of a window.

They had Dost already and will take Castaignos from Frankfurt to replace Slimani.

That's a big price for Hendricks. I rate him, but am still kind of stunned he's going for a double figure sum. I guess that's the window we're in.

Players go for about 4x their value this window, and it's only going to get worse.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Hendrick 10M to Hull. Having medical tomorrow.

Pricetag aside, he fully deserves his PL transfer. He's earned it in the Euros alone.

    It's the norm now
Delighted for Hendrick if it goes through, thoroughly deserved after his Euros performance

pricetag seems extremely logical in this market, his age and his proven ability. He was probably on the list of 50% of PL teams targets at the end of last season.

I can see him being an Ireland captain in next few years. Has all the elements of a leader

He needs to be a lot more consistent. I can't see Derby being too upset at losing him especially for the money. Good move for Hendricks though, let's hope he steps up and stays injury free.
