Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

My mates volvo failed the NCT on emmissions. The CAT is knackered.
Does anyone know what can be done to get round this other than replacing the cat ?
He has been quoted 1500 for a replacement cat etc - which the car isnt worth.

Is there a cleaner he could try like STP or something ?

    Thanks
    Rob

Nope, if catalytic converter is really gone there is no other remedy than replacing it.
1500 is way too much. Get one from a breakers or shop around more.

Best to replace the cat, maybe look at getting a dog instead.

Far more reliable and you can take them for a walk too:)

What age is the car? He can get a universal cat welded in place at less than a quarter that price!
