Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can't seem to find out online if I can tax my commercial jeep in Drogheda instead of in Dublin where it's registered.
Can some wise soul please let me know?
I'd like to think you can, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some foolish rule about doing it that way.
    Thank you in advance.

It's fine, just go in to any tax office. I think they actually can say no, but it's unlikely.

You can tax a vehicle online, or by post or visit to a Motor Taxation Office in the county in which the vehicle is ordinarily kept.
You can tax it online too.

I wasn't able to tax it online last night, their site kept telling me to go to one of their centres in person for some reason.
    Pain in the hole!
    Thanks for the reply.

It's been a few years but when I went to tax a car in Longford as I was refused as it was registered in Dublin.

It's ridiculous isn't it?! I know my own luck, I'll try it and they'll refuse.

I swear, I hate civil servants in this country with a passion now.
I'm just off the phone with the Drogheda tax office, no I can't tax it there, I have to go into Dublin city centre to do it.
Apparently, because it's my first time taxing it I also have to get it weighed at an official weigh station because Revenue made a balls of the weights?!
I also need to get a form stamped by the Garda to say I'm using the vehicle commercially.
What is wrong with this country?

Ok, so there was a lot more to be done than simply taxing it.

So I've just found out. I've lost a days work to this madness, I'm on the bus now heading into town instead of working away up in Louth.
How did the Revenue manage to make a balls of the vehicle weights forcing people to get their vehicles weighed themselves?! My jeep was bought as a commercial in 2007.
I just hope I'm allowed to tax it online in future.

    End of rant.
