Had my interview today, thought that it went ok but like always as time goes on you begin to question yourself! Now the wait for results begins, they said it should take 2 weeks!
From past stages are they usually released 2 weeks after?

So I've a bit of head scratcher. I passed the stage two exam. I got my email saying that I would be called for an interview in September never gave me a date. I filled in the first interview forms about work etc. Sent them back and I got an email saying that they had got it. I'm due to go to the states at the start of next month and I don't know what to do since i was told my interview would be in sept but I got no date. I'm up around the 1300 in order of merit. Any advice ???

PAS are conducting interviews up to November so I'm sure you could change it.

Quick question here, yet to receive my interview dates but if successful, are the fitness and medicals done on the same day?

    Trying to plan annual leave.

No both are done on separate dates, Medical in HQ and Physical in Templemore

Did my interview today! Got really nervous , not even sure if they understood the reasoning behind why I want to be a guard! I hope I passed ! Oh my nerves now !! Let the wait begin.

Also has anyone on here , did the interview , think they did bad and ended up passing ?

Congratulations on sitting your interview, the hard work is done, don't over think too much, they will take nerves into consideration. I personally think everyone comes out second guessing themselves and wondering did they answer good enough etc...and yes some ppl thought they failed and passed, i came out feeling 50/50 as they give you no clue how it went and i passed! best of luck,

Thanks LandT and VW73! I was speaking at one stage and don't think it was English ! 😂 I just couldn't get out the reason about wanting to be a guard but I knew about the training programme and have loads and loads of community work !

    Yep, I did!
I walked out pretty bummed about it and conceded that I wasn't going to be a Garda at all, even stopped practicing for the beep test.

But in the end I passed and even got a good OOM!

I'm sure it's all in your head. Try not to stress too much about it you can't do anything now anyway.

Hi. I've got called for interview for the Gardaì and filling out the application form. I'm just wondering do they ring employers for references? Do they check the dates you worked in the company to verify when you left? I heard of one guy who said they rang his last employer but dono what they asked!!

    Cheers

What are ye guys saying in section B of the interview form? I haven't done any community or voluntary work bar some stewarding at a football game a few times. Should I use my imagination as they say?:p

No that is the interview form. The form B should be sent to us once we get a date I think. And then you bring that on the day of the interview.

Similar situation, Not my strongest point in any shape or form. Not going to bluff simply because I'd be worried they'd catch me out in the interview.

My stronger points or at least that what I would consider stronger is I've always been in pubic facing roles in relation to work.

Even the second question, my hobbies are games... Console gaming ect. Isn't necessarily something that will benefit the Garda. Overall section B isn't really that applicable to me but assuming it has to be entered nonetheless.

Ya I don't think a simple N/A for section b would look good for us.Im going to fill it out best I can and like you said not be bluffing it as we'll be found out.

Dunno, with computer games. Alot of role playing, communication, community, team work etc.. pop it down, obviously don't use it for your main examples but if your asked about it then say that's why you like playing games. I put down I like computers and IT. Never mentioned it in the interview.

Dont bluff on anything, you'll end up trying to fill in on a missing bit of info on the fly, another person might ask you a different way about the same thing and youll be found out.

Folks, these lads do this interview stuff for a living, go in there any way sketchy and youll be out on your back side, don't over complicate things, keep it simple.

As someone said here before it's easy to look good on paper but in person it's different. I didn't do too well in my interview and more than likely failed, but I would share the above advise with others. I'll go again for the role, and hopefully the experience from this interview will get me in. Best of luck on the interview.

Do not put down console gaming on your interview form! The team work, communication etc that you mentioned above are not the type of skills they are looking for.

They are a very bad interpretation of those skills!

Use general hobbies that make you look interesting and outgoing.

Like reading, travelling, playing sports with your friends, partaking in community events, socialising, running, swimming, keeping fit etc.

Using general hobbies like those and I'd be lying, further I'd probably never interacted with the commuinity either.

Section B is kind of pointless in general for me, if it focused on the compentency based id be fine. Ill figure something out though. Might be a bit brief.

First time posting on here, just finished interview Thursday gone by! So here's hoping, I'm probably at a disadvantage being only 18 but it's worth a shot! Just wondering anyone else here 18 or even 19/20?? And well done all on getting this far (y)

Can I ask how long were you waiting for your interview date after you sent the interview form?

As for age, there was a 19 year old in training last year.

Anybody hear how many are remaining in this campaign? My order of merit is in the 1600's.
Delighted to get this far, I know many people would give an arm and a leg to get a shot at an interview.

    Well done!

Good luck with your Irish test!

I don't know if 700 is that high to be honest, but if your not in the November class then you will be at the start of 2017.

Thanks, really stressing over this Irish exam, have a bit of an idea what could be on it, dunno when it is, be like a H bomb been dropped when I get the notice. But doing grinds a few weeks now so making progress just hoping I am studying the correct areas.

Anyone that recently passed the interview is more than likely looking at getting a call for November. Rumour has it that the next intake after that is February. Either way it shouldnt be to long

Passed the interview today, I'm in the low to mid 600 range. This worries me a little as they were rumored to only be taking on 600 in total. Surely not that many people have failed the physical/medical and vetting?

Stage 4 does have a big failure rate, but once your fit, healthy, and once you haven't been a bold boy before then you'll be fine.

Yeah I've also heard that there's a serious amount of people failing the fitness test. I imagine the beep test and sit-ups are the killer!

Reading the above comments am I right in saying anyone that recently passed the interview is more than likely looking at November for the next stage?

Don't forget the medical, BMI has to be in range also, I would say depending on background check, that would decide if your going down for November along with the other tests been passed.

Any idea what their acceptable bmi range is? I'm fairly muscular so have a high bmi without actually being to fat.
