Sounded like gunshot here in Newcastle Wicklow and a heavy downpour. Anyone know if we can expect more?

What is the correct terminology to describe hearing thunder,

Is it a clap, boom or rumble or another,

Looks like it's heading north west, not much hope up here on the north east coast :(

Same here in Dublin 15, I think that was the loudest clap of thunder and brightest flash of lightening I've ever heard/seen in Ireland!!

I was sitting at a bus shelter while it was happening. 20 minute wait on a bus so watched that system move slowly towards the Meath direction. The start of it was frightening.

Mad. In Naas with the inlaws and got to see one of the storms. Then went home to D15 and got to see another. The one in D15 went within a couple of hundred metres of me.
Usually thunderstorms go out of their way to avoid me.

Picking up again north of Naas. Four big rumbles in the last five minutes.

Thought I heard a rumble out the back earlier but any potential went to my south.

It was quite intense over Clew Bay about 20 minutes ago, I was watching it heading northwest from Clare island but it's gone out of my sight over Achill now.

Saw a good bit. That Dunboyne cell was great. The one stlightly south, think over Clane, was at a rate of about every 30 seconds. My kid took video, it's quite far out but decent enough.

Further action possible for tomorrow it seems, providing it warms up nicely like today!

Some nice flashes in the distance from here, you must have a good view off it down there.

Yes had that here earlier this evening. There was very frequent lightning but there was no way the detectors were picking up all of the strikes. I presume it's because they were high based storms.
