often go to the gym and start off with pre-workout and would drink a lot of water during the workout and would have a protein shake straight after and often then would have a litre of protein milk. Would be pissing like a horse then for awhile and often wonder is the protein getting wasted? could it be going straight through the body and not digesting?

The cortisol you'll be producing of having worries about such trivial things will have a greater impact

Apparently having foamy/frothy piss is a sign that you're getting rid of excess protein.

Side note: what's protein milk like? I thought it sounded like a bit of a gimmick/much more expensive than powder.

Can't remember the exact figure but yes, you can take in too much. Your body can only process a certain amount, the rest goes in the toilet, which is probably where your overpriced gimmick milk is ending up

lidl protein milk is only 99 cents a litre for 50 grams of protein. the problem is is that I'm not taking in too much over the day but am I taking in too much over a very short space of time? the bones of 80 grams of protein in one hour with the rest of my protein in foods during the rest of the day.

The 30g/hour thing doesn't mean you excrete anything above the 30g of protein.

And it probably wouldn't be the milk to go first either.

If you take 60g/hr where does the other 30 go?

It doesn't have to go anywhere after an hour.

Edit: have a read of this instead

Google "examine How much protein can I eat in one sitting" and you'll get a link for an explanation on examine.com

    From the examine.com article
That being said, since fecal losses of protein and short-chain peptides tend to smell incredibly bad one can use a 'sniff-test' after bowel movements to assess if protein is being lost in the feces and thus not taken up by either the intestines or the muscle.

Gut by Guilia Enders is a pretty good book that covers this topic well!

It's waits it's turn and gets processed in the next hour.

Look at it his way, in order to pee it out, you have to digest it into the bloodstream first

If it went straight through without digesting, it's not piss it would fly out as.

So in theroy, you cannot overload on protein because it will eventually get used up?

It can be possible that any food (not just protein) you eat doesn't get digested, probably a number of possibly causes too. But it wont ever happen simply because you ate more than 30g in an hour.

If it did, you could eat a huge steak and piss away most of the calories. If only :D
