Hope tests went well for those who were on this week. How many are in each session?

I know a few that went for this.

About 11 or so a session. About 200 left in the running, 10 positions available.

    Don't fancy those odds!!

Jesus, down to 200 is not bad.
Any info on what was involved in these sessions.

Ah, what can I say that won't give an unfair advantage to those yet to do it?

If you're not a good talker in a group of 5/6 your cards are gonna be well marked anyway...its a silly way to do it, they'll rule out out alot of good people that are just not comfortable in that situation...it not relevant to the job and they learn little from it as an exercise. The natural talkers shine.

Nearly as bad as the speed reading.

Role play is an interaction with an actor while accessor watches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 littlelau01

It is not always the ones who talk the most or loudest who do well in these situations. You would imagine and hope that assessors can see through it.

I selected the last morning, the 12th of May. Very much on the fence as to whether I will go. Presentation type stuff and group exercise is my worse nightmare so would appreciate any info as to what is involved from people who do it in the early days.

Strange to see the emphasis on 'group exercise' in the evaluation and selection process, given that by definition, those who get the job will absolutely NOT be working in groups and will be working 1:1 with their 'customers'.

I suppose it is making sure that we are sociable and have the ability to present ourselves and the organisation. That we won't be arrogant or ignorant and shouting people down. I found that the personality test was very focused on the social skills side of things.

Maybe, but the successful candidates won't be working in groups, they will be working 1:1.

1 to 1 with the applicant but they will be working across the organisation and maybe attending meetings etc. I agree it seems a strange skill to zone in on

It says it's a two year fixed term contract, what happens after the two years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 Lizzie99

Did the assessment day in Liffey Valley. I thought it was reasonable and while catchy, I did have to think on my feet/bum!
The group exercise I found a bit more daunting as there were two parties which basically tried to control the 'discussion'...I thought it was bad mannered and maybe trying too hard on their behalf, but maybe they are the personalities that the observers/assessors are looking for! I hope not, as I would not see them as easy colleagues.

Otherwise for what it is worth, the scenarios were good, well explained and time to think and to reconfirm the role required to carry out so can not fault the assessors in any way.

Waiting game now so I wish everyone the best who get to the next stage....keep us informed!

Hope it goes well for you. At least the wait won't be too long, results should be out by Friday.

You have no job. I suppose it is possible that they might decide to extend, but you'd need to plan to have no job at the end of the 2 years.

It'll be next week, they still have groups to do Thursday and I think Friday.

I got an email to say driving tests are commencing week beginning 16th of May, at that rate they would want to let us know Friday. I have my assessment on Thursday, fingers crossed. Best of luck everyone.

Oh, didn't know that, I doubt their'll be many through to that, they could weed it down to 10 and do them next Thursday/Fri.

Yes I suppose, there are 10 positions available so I presume they will do more than 10 tests, 20 maybe through to the interview.

So what does this "neat dress" code mean, what are the men/women wearing to the group session? Still not sure whether it means neat casual or neat business ... Anyone seen wearing jeans??

Suits or trousers/shirt, no jeans I'm told.

But jeans be grand if not with runners Id imagine.

well the assessments are done for everyone at this stage - so what did people think?

Now it is just a waiting game to see if we made it through to the driving test

Hard to see how 'fast reader' would be an important criteria for this job. There are lots of people who read slowly who would make great driving testers.

You can drive on private land from any age, and some enthusiasts would be capable drivers before 17.

But more importantly, they didn't look for a minimum number of years experience, they set an age limit - which is probably a breach of our equality legislation.

Why would you think that? Is there any evidence behind this, or just the usual oul 'typical Ireland' guff?

Usual guff. 30 years ago, may e but now no way

Ah, it was very easy to do the online assessments but the combination of having to travel across the country and not fancying that type of group assessment and currently having a job etc, I just decided against.

If only a 189 more had thought the same!!! We would be down to the final 10 by default!!!

Unless you have experience as a driving tester already or have a driving instructor background you were probably as well not to attend. Lots of peeps who worked as testers going for this and with possibly only 10 jobs going there'll be big competition for places.

Although they said you couldn't prepare for the group session - the scenarios, role play and group discussion all centered around driving tester situations, so I assume if you have knowledge of procedures you'd score better than someone without this kind of experience.

Best of luck to those scheduled to do driving test next week; not sure I envy ya

Anybody get result from driving test it was normal driving test or something with high standard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Andrew1981

Anybody knows how many marks you can have on driving test assessment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,714 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

I'd say if they want 20 people to go forward, they will just pick the best 20. They can only work with the standard that turned up on the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Andrew1981

I think if you pass you get true to the last round I wondered how many driving instructors apply they probably pass without any Mark

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Andrew1981

If someone has already got a response from the driving test ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Andrew1981

    How many people left ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭Halpenny

Hi Andrew, this thread seems to have gone pretty much dead apart from yourself. I suppose the 90 odd people who made it through to the driving test stage don't want to divulge how they got on. Best of luck btw.

    Hi Paddy2012,
I got an email the other day to attend a thing in Mullingar for this. Interviews, role-play exercise etc. Not sure how many people got through to this round but would be interested to hear from anyone else!

Hello! I'm also through to the assessment this year. Feeling equally nervous and excited as I'm not sure what to expect!
I was wondering if anyone knows how they decide on what location your job will be based in? I know I'm thinking way ahead, but it's the only thing making me a little apprehensive about continuing my application. I'd prefer not to be moved across country for the job!
Any help would be appreciated ðŸ˜

Be interested to know, to Any of the successful candidates of the 2016 campaign, are any of you at the end of your 2 contract? If so were you just let go or made permanent?
I understand most of the successful candidates will still be working out their 2 years contract, any talk or confirmation what will happen at the end of it? Will you be let go, or give the current demands- made permanent???
