In a lot of cases its cheaper in the shop than in the ad.

Messing on both sides.

There used to be a rule you could post a link to the item online cheaper and people had to sell it for less.

They removed that rule though, a long time.

it sure is a joke. I was selling a book for 5 euro, it cost 15 new and is like new. someone offered me 5 euro,I said postage was 4.50, i accepted and asked them would they like me to post it to them. they said could the 5 euro include the cost of postage. the recession has created some right miserable misers.

You put an item up for €1k and you get morons offering 350-450... Unreal seeing as the item is already €200-€300 cheaper than any other adverts listing of the exact same item..

Had an iPhone 6s white 64gb unlocked to all networks up, still in wrapping hadn't even been unboxed and I was selling it for €600 - I accept offer of 600, meet up, he has all the money there, unwraps the phone takes everything out and puts his sim in etc, then has the balls to say well seeing as it's opened it's not worth 600 anymore I'll give you 450 after this inspection, he was dead serious as well.

Told him to F off booted him out of my car, had it sold to someone else for full asking price of 600 within an hour, person I sold it to said your man is notorious for pulling that kind of crap.

I sold a pine door for 30 euro on adverts a year ago, i was selling at 30 for a quick sale, i was looking through other ads for pine doors on adverts, I saw someone was selling a lovely pine door for 10 euro, I thought that was very cheap, then saw that someone offered 5 euro for it. I would rather chop it up for fire wood than sell it for 5 euro to some miserable git like that.

I made the mistake on donedeal to advertise with my phone number instead of mail.

The amount of chancers that would text, not to engage in meaningful conversation, but to simply try to haggle like idiots:

"wats ur best price?!"
"bottom price!"

I'd rather sell for half price to someone with an ounce of manners than to some eejit that think I'll drop price after a text like that.

Several times I have offered the asking price AND was first in the queue for a collectible item, but didnt get it because someone mysteriously offered the seller more money which is against the rules, but adverts team dont seem to want to do anything about it, adverts is an auction website, despite what they say.

is that still against the rules? I thought a lot of the old Boards rules had been abandoned and it was largely up to the seller who they sold to and for how much. Had your offers been accepted in those cases?

I have bought and sold a couple of times from Adverts.

The amount of things I have bought from people who "withdraw" the item or leave it still for sale annoys the bollox off me.

Just mark it sold and give me good feedback you cnuts.

So i paid more than i did over on DoneDeal to post the ad. Had people abuse me for asking for the price stated in the ad and then sold it through DoneDeal for full price anyway.

An even better one was when i was selling a childs bed for 40 quid which was easily worth more but just wanted rid.

Someone offered me "20 if you deliver to talliht". I live in ****ing Waterford. And yes that is how they spelled Tallaght. I thought to myself they must be from another country but no. They literally where from Tallaght.

Do none of you look at a persons feedback before dealing with them?

I have used Adverts for a long time and find it a safe enough place to trade provided that you have your wits about you.

I always do look at feedback, and anyone I contact to buy stuff from has good feedback.. doesn't mean they don't mess you around either though

Similar thing happened me on Donedeal! The person seemed a bit messed up to be honest, and it's totally put me off donedeal.

My mate worked for eBay and another super trading giant for years,he told me when eBay started a lot of people made an awful of money on it,even from selling things laying around the house,then the EU stuck it's oar in,hes adamant since he was privy to the inner workings that capitalism is only reserved for the already winners...the little people aren't supposed to get ahead like that

I always check feedback Wether buying or selling.

I also check their older adverts and recent comments. Especially if I'm selling to check if they're low balling me compared to the 20 other I phones they made an offer on in the past hour.

That gets me, "I can only offer this much". Check their other bids and they've offered way more for a higher spec! I'm actually selling a couple of bits atm. I've had one offer of 450 for an item I'm selling for 799. After saying that I would take 750 but no point in advertising at that! I would actually only take 750 even if someone met asking price as that is what I want but unfortunately selling doesn't work like that. I use adverts when I can since the feedback gives you some indication of who you're dealing with. I have sold on DoneDeal before but I got badly stung when they paid me with fake 50 notes to the tune of 350.

eBay don't hide listings. They just have a search engine and people wonder why their items don't appear at the top.

I used to work there and I started in customer support. Typical call would be as follows.

Them - "I listed a pink ipod and when you search for it it's on page 40"
Me - "What search terms are you using"
Them - "pink Ipod"
Me - "You listed it as pink Mp3 player"
Them - "It's the same thing isn't it?"

Their current system is difficult to navigate and does hide items - I recently had prolonged dealings with eBay and they admitted that there are problems. It's not the place for the small trader any more and many of the items offered by larger traders (DVDs/Books etc.) can be had far cheaper elsewhere. eBay for sourcing an item and Amazon for buying it.

I'm not so sure,my listing used to disappear at the same time everyday(normally when top sellers listings changed back from free Postage),it even disappeared from my active listings.i even read it somewhere they have it somewhere In their user agreement.
