Is there much difference between the Wharfdale DX1 HCP and DX1 SE other than price?

    Hi guys,

At the moment I am using the speakers that came with my old Sony STR-DE475 amp (4 x Sattelite Speakers - Sony SS-V225, Central Speaker - Sony SS-CN225 & SUBWOOFER SA-WMS225).  These are running well with my STR DN 860.

I am toying with the idea of upgrading the speakers.  Would there be a significant improvement?

I like the look of the Wharfdale package.  Can you comment on the difference between the two packages in terms of sound quality?

    Hi ShaneOC.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

There are a few differences between the two packs.

The HCP has a power rating of 80W and the SE a little higher at 100W
The Hz are also a little different with the SE going to 2200Hz from the Sats giving better bass response.
I think the Se also use a different tweeter over the HCP giving a clear more refined top end.

We have had both packages running many times here in store and the SE does sound more meaty and refined.

The HCP pack currently priced at 349.99 Euro (Inc Delivery) - Stock in very low at the moment on this pack in our warehouse.

The SE coming in at 499.99 Euro (Inc Delivery) - Due to stock shortage on the HCP I could drop to 449.99 Euro on the SE

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks Kenny.

It'll be a few weeks before I take the plunge but sounds like the SE is the package to go for.
