Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Think this game and last week have shown how to play against Connacht. Big line speed and pressure their back line and the handling looks ropey.

How fussy is dudly Phillips? ??

Nice try for Gilroy. Payne did well to get the offload to him.

    Lovely offload from Payne.

Really rate Gilroy as a winger- what I see, I like

He ruins nearly every game. he also cards more players than any other ref.

Not sure last week said much. Played in a gale and Connacht still won the game. Think they are suffering from the 6 day turnaround tonight. Intensity and energy just isn't there.

Connacht will be kicking themselves for missing touch there

    In defence, great!

Posted in wrong thread. But I'm fairly sure that was forward.

Super play from Payne. Having a fine game.
His footwork to get his stride, pace, and angles right when going for the gap between two defenders is second to none in Irish rugby.

Ulster smelling blood and go in at the corner. Good pressure but conn should have seen the ball into touch at that pen

    Add your reply here.
He is almost imagining some of the breakdown penalties to me. Against both teams.

Not sure this is about tiredness in the backfield. Ulster are straight up in their faces and nearly every attack ends in an unforced error.

Easily the worst performance of the season.

A case could be made for winning the other 5 losses but this has been unwatchable.

'Fussy' is an unfair spin on 'correct'.

How did Ulster get possession back for that try?

Aki needs to cop himself on.

Card coming here. Trimble deliberately knocked that forward.

Aki being told to calm down again today.

    That's correct

Not sure what the ref is supposed to do here, clear penalty offences everywhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Deserved card. Should have had one before halftime.

Good play by Trimble. Right decision in the circumstances, and well executed.

Can't blame him for getting upset - deliberate ceap that ukster have been getting away with all night

Connacht ruck protection was been awful.

Think Robbie should have passed there.

Well, Connacht scored the only try of the game so not sure that's correct. You have a point though, Ulster had great line speed in the reverse fixture and completely negated our attack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

More butchery by Connacht in a try scoring position.

    So frustrating

If it had been something dirty like a late or high hit or something niggly, fair enough but getting into handbags over a slapped down pass is one I've never seen before.

Connacht lucky to get that back. Good chance with a scrum in enemy territory and a man up.

Jaysus, replay that maul again later. It was just Rory Best stopping Connacht.

Yeah, Generally I agree. But there has been some very very marginal calls whether a penalty occurred or not. And in that situation giving a penalty just disrupts the game. Like when Henderson was pinged for taking the man out beyond the ball, it was probably a correct call but did it make a material difference. Ulster were moving the ball to the open side and Henderson skimmed off the blindside defender.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

    Toner wouldn't have caught that.

Aw no - pass in to touch. Wonderful.

    Good defence by Ulster.

Starting to bang on the door a bit harder now.

Need to score something with the man advantage.

Going wide to early. Some forwards making good ground. Gotta make the extra man tell. They're letting Ulster use the whitewash as a 15th man.

Great try. Looked like a high hit as he was scoring.

    Boom.

    What a great try.

Blade injecting much needed pace at the base after coming on for Cooney.

    The hands were class
