Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Feral Cat territory question

I have been looking after a feral tom for 3 years. He is pretty wild but will occasionally allow us to pet him and then gets standoffish again.

My query is that he has a cat bed outside which he was sleeping in very happily for 2 years but in the past few months he has stopped sleeping in it; some other animal is soiling it. I can't work out if this is another cat or another animal and if it is some sort of territorial dispute with another cat or if it's a fox or whatever. He is having an ongoing dispute with another local cat and they had a massive fight one night and when I went out in the morning there was fur everywhere.

Was wondering if anyone here knows if cats soil in other cat's territory or bedding to mark territory - could not find anything online.

To my knowledge they will. Thats why you will often see cats and dogs sniffing where another animal has already marked and then mark over it.

But i'm not sure what you can do about it in this case short of keeping a close eye out with a super soaker water pistol to scare off the other cat.
